Job description

WE WANT YOUR BRAINS… PopCap is looking for brainy and skillful people with a passion for making the world’s best games. What’s in it for you? A super-fun environment, rewarding work, and lots of great perks. It takes big, delicious brains to make award-winning titles like Plants vs. Zombies that delight millions of players around the world every day.

As a Game Director reporting to the Studio GM, you will be the principal product owner and vision holder for a distributed team focused on bringing a new PvZ title in early production to market. This is an important leadership role that involves a high level of interaction with team members, development partners, studio leadership, and EA executives. You should have a mixture of execution, leadership, management, and creative experiences from the F2P and live service space.

You will work closely with our creative, development, and support teams while partnering with team leaders to help guide the direction, planning, execution, and quality of features and content. You’ll combine analytical data, consumer insights, and creative processes to ensure we’re driving solutions that meet our financial, engagement, and player experience goals.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve the product vision, core pillars, and business objectives.
  • Sell the vision of the game across EA and our industry.
  • Work with the team and studio leadership to define the operational processes of the project, including development practices, production planning, status reporting, risk management, resource management, and budgeting.
  • Guide the game’s development and production execution.
  • Build a data-driven live service.
  • Communicate with game and studio leadership to track the status of milestones, ensuring that deadlines are met.
  • Proactively identify and address risks associated with meeting features and release milestones.
  • Work with Studio Finance to prepare accurate and reasonable project budgets.
  • This role is remote and will manage a decentralized team.

Requirements

  • You will have 5+ years of experience as a Senior or Executive Producer, having overseen one or more F2P mobile games through production to live.
  • You will have 10+ years of experience leading distributed teams to the successful shipment of highly complex projects.
  • Deep experience supervising and developing a team of direct reports.
  • Experience with the function and relationships between the disciplines involved in game development.
  • Natural personal investment in your products and teams.
  • Detail-oriented and deeply organized, but with an eye on the big picture.
  • Ability to build strong partnerships at every level.
  • Intense passion for F2P games.
  • Experience managing P&Ls.
