The State Report Data Analyst is primarily responsible for performing data analysis design, trend and analyze data, and developing analytical reports that provide aggregate and detailed information related to Medicaid claims data using Oracle PL/SQL. Data analysis includes preparing and presenting results/findings in reports to the client. A successful candidate will understand both medical and pharmacy claims data along with knowledge of SQL development including analytic functions, CTEs, and complex joins. A clinical background is a plus!

Your role in our mission
  • Create complex PL/SQL queries and processes to generate reports to support the New Jersey Department of Health and Department of Human Services in implementing protocols, evaluating drug utilization and monitoring cost savings.
  • Trend and analyze data to identify areas for potential healthcare quality enhancement and improvement.
  • Provide information about drug claim volume and payments to help guide the state in managing drug-related policies and programs.
  • Measure the state's performance on various metrics.
  • Collaborate with the MEP Report Writer for specific projects and back up as needed.
  • Communicate regularly with managers at Gainwell and the state to understand their needs and then design, execute, and present reports for various projects.
What we're looking for
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience creating SQL queries, preferably for a Healthcare industry.
  • Experience with Oracle PL/SQL or Microsoft SQL, including analyzing and modifying existing SQL queries and advanced SQL concepts such as analytic functions, CTEs, and complex joins.
  • Experience in health-related analytics and/or biostatistics
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including the use of formulas, pivot tables, and Excel tables.
  • Strong organizational skills for keeping track of report requests and priorities
  • Create and maintain documentation related to new and existing reports
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail

The pay range for this position is $58,200.00 - $83,200.00 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
