  • This role is part of the Litigation team within our Legal department

  • ​Responsible for reviewing claims, suits and other legal documents involving American Airlines, our partners and subsidiaries and working with the Legal team and compliance coordinators to defend against court cases involving customer service and/or other issues

What you'll do

  • Investigates claims and performs research and legal analysis related to claims

  • Reviews court information domestically and/or internationally including with regard to local and state rules of civil procedure

  • Determines appropriate course of action for American Airlines

  • Prepares and/or coordinates legal defense with outside counsel and/or internal representatives

  • Attends and directs or supports personnel attending small claims court or other hearings

  • Facilitates all legal correspondence and payments involving claims and their resolution

  • Records case information within Advocate, CRM and/or Legal Tracker

  • Analyzes data and creates reports to trend performance

  • Negotiates attorney billing rates and manages attorney invoices

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • High school diploma
  • 2 years of Customer Relations and/or Central Baggage Resolution Office experience

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Paralegal certification
  • Knowledge of American Airlines Conditions of Carriage
  • Knowledge of Montreal Convention/European Regulation 261/2004
  • Knowledge of Department of Transportation regulations applicable to aviation

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, to include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc
  • Knowledge of Sabre
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks with deadlines
  • Ability to travel when needed
