The Copyeditor plays a pivotal role in ensuring accuracy, consistency, and on-time delivery of content. The primary task of this role is copyediting faculty-developed or CEA staff–developed content following the CEA/AMA style guide and consists of identifying and correcting spelling mistakes, typos, grammatical errors, and inconsistencies. The Copyeditor also reviews content for flow, medical terminology accuracy, requirements for other teams, design elements in tables and figures, and other elements specific to different activity models. The Copyeditor may be called upon to support additional tasks of the company, as requested by the Editorial Director or Copy Manager.
Responsible for:
• Copyedit various medical-/scientific-focused materials: manuscripts/modules for online posting, PowerPoint slidesets, grants, conference materials, print and digital content, marketing materials, outcomes reports, etc
• Copyedit content to ensure it meets the CEA standards and style guide
• Exhibit flexibility in level of copyediting to adjust for intended audience (eg, patient-focused materials, supporters, different therapeutic areas) and deliverable type (eg, slidesets, modules, commentaries, marketing emails)
• Provide recommendations to improve clarity in communication
• Obtain a working knowledge of specific terminology among different therapeutic areas by researching the literature, respected associations, or AMA Manual of Style or by collaborating with Scientific Directors and document the findings
• Follow good publishing practices
• Work closely with Editorial Director, Copy Manager, Program Directors, Scientific Directors to prioritize workload to ensure all deadlines are met
• Use available resources to verify faculty information
• Proactively identify and resolve issues with appropriate team members
• Communicate easily and effectively across all levels of the organization
• Work closely with Scientific Directors, Program Directors, Designers, Grants team, Production team, and other team members to ensure materials are of the highest quality in terms of accuracy, clarity, and readability
• Provide suggested updates to the CEA style guide

Job Performance Measurements This position will be measured on:
• Achieve identified efficiency ratio: % of Hours Required to Complete Activities vs % of Hours assigned for those Activities. Goal = 100%; Minimum threshold: 90% of Target
• Achieve identified on-time delivery %: % of Activities the employee is assigned that are delivered on or before
the “to CMT” date in Mission Control. Goal = 100%; Minimum threshold: Greater than 85%.
• Grant turnaround time within identified # of days: Goal = 3 days or less; Minimum threshold: Greater than 90%.
Job Requirements:
• BA degree in English, Literature, or Communications preferred
• 3-5 years of experience in a medical education, communications, or publishing company
• Proficiency in AMA Manual of Style and the ability to incorporate company-specific and activity-specific style requirements
• Acute attention to detail
• Ability to meet aggressive deadlines without sacrificing quality of work
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, Adobe Acrobat, Outlook
• Experience in online routing systems a plus
• Experience in content management systems a plus
