The client is a Brisbane-based company providing a comprehensive range of HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical, and electrical solutions to commercial businesses.

Specialising in preventative maintenance programs for commercial and light industrial buildings, they also offer associated services in commissioning and compliance, including ventilation & fire testing and electrical installations.

Role Overview:

We are looking for a highly skilled Mechanical HVAC Engineer/Draftsman/Estimator with expertise in designing, drafting, and estimating HVAC systems. The ideal candidate will be proficient in CAMEL+ Heat Load Calculator, AutoCAD, Revit, and Bluebeam, along with other essential HVAC software. You will be responsible for performing heat-load calculations, drafting mechanical plans, estimating project costs, and providing detailed take-offs to support design, construction, and budgeting requirements.

This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who can work independently in a virtual environment while collaborating with teams to deliver high-quality HVAC designs and estimates.

Key Responsibilities:

Design & Construct Projects

• Perform accurate heat-load calculations using CAMEL+ Heat Load Calculator.
• Select appropriate AC systems, fans, and ventilation equipment.
• Design and draft mechanical shop drawings, including ductwork runs, sizing, and component selections.
• Develop detailed schedules for AC units, fans, grilles, registers, flex ducts, pipes, and electrical components.
• Obtain quotes from suppliers and analyze costs for project budgeting.
• Provide total take-offs, including duct lengths, pipe lengths, and register quantities.
• Estimate project costs for quoting and budgeting.

Construct Only Projects

• Review and interpret consultant plans and convert them into shop drawings and as-built drawings.
• Accurately measure and document duct lengths, pipe lengths, drains, and flex lengths.
• Obtain supplier quotes for pricing and estimation.
• Ensure all project estimates and budgets are precise and well-documented.

Requirements

• At least 3-5 years of experience in HVAC design, Drafting, and Estimation.
• Strong proficiency in CAMEL+ Heat Load Calculator, AutoCAD (2D), Revit (3D), and Bluebeam.
• Knowledge of HVAC system components, including AC units, fans, ductwork, and fittings.
• Experience with take-offs, estimating, and budgeting for HVAC projects.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering and architectural plans.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently in a remote setting.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Familiar or has the ability to understand Australian Standards and the Australian National Construction Code in relating to air-conditioning
