SENIOR UNDERWRITER

WELLINGBOROUGH OR REMOTE

Working hours

Our standard work hours are 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday.  The Underwriting team is based in our Wellingborough head office typically works onsite three days per week.  For those living beyond a commutable distance, we are open to discussing more flexible arrangements based on experience and ability.

Your role

  • Review and decision larger value and / or more complex proposals.
  • Assess and analyse the creditworthiness of individuals, serviceability of companies, asset evaluation and securities assessment to determine the risk.
  • Liaise with introducers to clarify proposal information and issue acceptances, declines, or requests for further information.
  • Write recommendation papers for Committee and Board review.
  • Participate in the Board and Committee approval process for high-value deals. 

What you bring

  • Significant underwriting experience in Asset Finance with a mandate for high-value deals.
  • Experience writing board and committee papers, and familiarity with the Board approval process.
  • Good understanding of Consumer Credit Act and FCA Handbook.
  • Capability to perform detailed financial analysis.
  • A balanced view of commercial risk versus credit risk, with the ability to negotiate and amend transaction structures.
  • A good understanding of finance products, documentation, and associated risks.

It would be nice for you to have

  • Recognised Credit Risk Management qualification (or working towards).
