Overview & Responsibilities
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
Under the direction of the Field Service Commercial Manager and in close cooperation with North American Field Service Project Manager staff as well as Service Sales engineers, coordinates the administrative, contractual and commercial aspects of field service projects, from inquiry to estimating FS projects.
On major projects may directly supervise and provide project management at a customer's site for the installation, commissioning, overhaul, and troubleshooting of Elliott and other OEM equipment in line with the requirements of a Field Service Project Manager.
BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:
Technical degree or 5-10 years of field service project management experience on steam turbines, process compressors, steam turbine generators, pumps and auxiliary equipment.
Must be familiar with not only all Elliott product lines but those of other manufacturers.
Capable of handling contractual, commercial and administrative aspects of job.
Supervisory skills needed to direct and coordinate lead engineers/representatives and labor assigned to projects.
Flexible personality is required as the position deals with many different customers, health and safety systems and forms of contract.
Must be able to accurately estimate the amount of material and labor resources required to execute a given work scope.
Must be able to define to work scope in cases where it has not been determined by the customer.
NATURE OF THE JOB:
Principal activities are discharged on an individual project basis and involve
Collecting data and understanding scope of work for the preparation of a quote.
Developing manpower and work schedule for projects
Defining subcontract services or goods and obtaining pricing
Developing project pricing and obtaining approval
Liaison with service sales in determining the value to sell with the project and assisting service sales when selling major field projects.
Planning of jobs, including scheduling of personnel, tools, subcontractors and goods
Briefing of all personnel (project managers, service engineers, technical representatives, subcontractors) prior to commencement of work at site to ensure they have an understanding of the project both technically and commercially.
Initiating purchasing of subcontractor services or goods
Provide commercial, contractual and administration assistance during the project, including in process cost tracking and invoicing as applicable
Assisting in the evaluation of project requirements which then leads to cost evaluation.
Identifying and promoting new project opportunities.
Improving project management tools.
Travel requirements expected to be up to 25%
SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES / COMPETENCIES:
Job responsibilities are to handle all the commercial, contractual and administration aspects of a project, such as but not limited to:
Receiving and reviewing inquiries.
Performs job walks to estimate the labor and material resources required for the completion of project and prepares detailed cost make-ups of the project
Prepares and issues proposals including workscope, PERT chart, GANTT chart, labor histogram for Field Service projects.
Assists Service Sales in selling effort.
Receives, reviews, resolves and acknowledges orders.
Conducts internal order coordination meetings (internal with dispatching, support engineering, finance).
Mobilizes labor and material resources for Field Service projects, including coordination and scheduling of subcontractors...
Manages purchasing and coordination of subcontractors and goods.
Performs internal project management.
Performs work in line with ISO 9002 Quality System
Establishes quality and documentation requirements for projects
Takes an active role in ensuring all work is performed in a safe manner to prevent injury to personnel and equipment.
Performs planning and technical detailing for all projects in order to establish the work requirements to be performed and to promote the sale of additional parts, upgrades, repairs, and field service.
Provides feedback via e-mail or phone call to applicable Elliott departments or personnel to promote the sale of parts, upgrades, repairs, and field service.
Initiates order amendment request if not handled by P/M
Flags progress billing due dates.
Assists finance with invoicing - both in process and final.
Assist in the collection of monies owed when necessary.
Debriefs team upon completion of assignment, establishes internal lessons learned and initiates any action or continuous improvement items, including implementing and communication of improvements learned.
Attend project close out or lessons learned meeting with customer when requested.
Performing self-assessment of all assignments to establish improvements relating to the product, process, or quality system.
Making courtesy calls to check inventories, promote parts sales, inspect new shipments, and sell service in conjunction with service sales Engineer
Keeping Service Managers promptly and thoroughly informed on all work performed, quality, performance and equipment problems and customers reaction to equipment
Keeps Aftermarket Sales personnel promptly and thoroughly informed on all immediate and future sales potential.
Responsible for contributing new ideas to improve product design and appearance, enhance company service and eliminate troubles.
Provides assistance on rotating equipment training programs
Provides support to all department activities as directed by Field Service Operations management
May exercise independent judgment and corrective action depending on the nature of the trouble and available communication lines.
Initiates action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformity relating to the product, process, and the quality system.
Notifies a supervisor upon the discovery of any problems relating to the product, process, or quality system.
Initiates, recommends, or provides solutions to problems relating to the product, process, and quality system through designated channels.
Verifies the implementation of solutions to problems relating to the product, process, and quality system.
Assist in other areas as required or requested.
