Annual Salary Range: $45 to $65 per hour

INTECON, LLC is seeking a Strategic Communications Strategist to support AFWERX’s Communications Division. This role is responsible for developing and executing communication strategies that promote technology innovation, stakeholder engagement, and mission awareness within the Department of the Air Force (DAF).

Roles and Responsibilities

The Strategic Communications Strategist will:

  • Develop and execute communication strategies that align with AFWERX and DAF priorities.
  • Create messaging for government, industry, and public audiences, ensuring consistency across channels.
  • Work with leadership and subject matter experts (SMEs) to craft messaging that drives engagement.
  • Manage digital and traditional media campaigns, including press releases, social media, and website content.
  • Collaborate with event planners to support messaging for conferences and engagements.
  • Ensure compliance with operational security (OPSEC) requirements for all public-facing communications.
  • Measure and analyze communication effectiveness, using data to refine strategies.
  • Engage with stakeholders across government, military, and industry to enhance collaboration.
  • Support content creation teams (writers, designers, and multimedia specialists) to ensure brand consistency.
  • Stay informed on industry trends to improve AFWERX's communication efforts.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Business Administration, or a related field.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience

  • 5+ years in strategic communications, messaging, or digital media management.
  • Experience working in government, military, or corporate communication roles.
  • Ability to create clear, engaging messaging for multiple audiences.
  • Proficiency in digital communication platforms, including social media and press release distribution.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to measure and improve communication strategies.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and presentation skills.
  • Experience in project management and working with cross-functional teams.
  • Certified Strategic Communication Management Professional (SCMP)

Proficiency in:

  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint)
  • Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive)
  • Social media and content management platforms (Hootsuite, Sprout Social, HubSpot)
  • Data analytics and visualization tools (Google Analytics, Power BI, Tableau)

Security Clearance

You must have an active DoD Secret clearance.
