Annual Salary Range: $35 to $55 per hour

INTECON, LLC is seeking an Event Specialist to support AFWERX’s Strategic Communications and Events Team. This role will help plan and manage events that bring together government, industry, and academia to drive innovation and collaboration. You will work alongside the Lead Event Specialist to ensure smooth execution of conferences, symposiums, and engagements that support technology transition and strategic initiatives.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Event Specialist will:

  • Plan and coordinate in-person and virtual events, ensuring a seamless experience from start to finish.
  • Manage event logistics, including venue selection, catering, transportation, and AV setup.
  • Work with vendors and suppliers to secure contracts and oversee fulfillment.
  • Develop event schedules and timelines, ensuring tasks are assigned and completed on time.
  • Support registration, agenda creation, and on-site coordination for high-profile engagements.
  • Collaborate with AFWERX leadership and stakeholders to promote events and maximize participation.
  • Ensure adherence to DoD and Air Force protocols, maintaining professionalism at all times.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks while ensuring safety and security for all participants.
  • Travel as needed to support event setup, execution, and post-event analysis.

Qualifications

Education

Degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Communications, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field (preferred).

Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in event planning, coordination, or management.
  • Experience organizing large-scale events (300+ attendees) for government, military, or corporate clients.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills to manage multiple events at once.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with military customs, traditions, and protocols (preferred but not required).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, adapting to last-minute changes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and event management software.

Proficiency in:

  • Event management platforms (Cvent, Eventbrite, Bizzabo, Zoom Events)
  • Project management tools (Jira, Asana, Trello, Monday.com)
  • Virtual event hosting platforms (Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Webex, Hopin)

Security Clearance

Active DoD Secret clearance required.
