Job description

This is a great opportunity for an accounting professional to explore other accounting facets in an international setting with our Canadian Construction client made up of fun and intelligent people working together in a progressive workplace.

Our client specializes in steel building construction: design, supply, install, maintenance/upgrades and general contracting services.

Since their inception in 1985, they have constructed over 500 buildings on 4 continents: from large-scale international mining projects to community sports centers to local storage and warehousing projects. They represent multiple steel building manufacturers and can offer a wide range of commercial and industrial buildings in pre-engineered steel, conventional steel, or a hybrid of both. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze, prepare, and post journal entries as needed, bank transactions, bank reconciliations (daily) and GL reconciliations (monthly, and more frequently as needed), including deferral and accrual entries to ensure proper matching and timely preparation of monthly financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Standards/ASPE (Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises).
  • Perform other accounting-related duties as assigned.
  • Assist with accounts receivable functions, including generating invoices and following up for customer payments.
  • Manage and monitor AP automation outputs, verifying accuracy, along with some manual AP processing.
  • Compile employee expense reimbursements pdfs and enter into Colony’s system (Jonas).
  • Reconcile employee credit card statements, code and post credit card transactions and credit card clearing transactions.
  • Ensure all required documentation is in place when processing payables (e.g. statutory declarations for all holdback release invoices)
  • Manage Colony’s AP & AR email mailbox’s.
  • Receive, review, file, and reconcile vendor statements, following up on any discrepancies.
  • Maintain all files and records in a highly organized manner, preferably in digital format.
  • Protect and maintain the privacy of all information received in the performance of this role.
  • Protect and promote Colony’s interests against suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Participate in a culture of continuous improvement by assessing processes and procedures
  • to improve the functionality of Colony.
  • General office administration duties as required time to time by management.

  • Review and post journal entries.
  • Review and complete bank, and GL reconciliations.
  • Review and process vendor invoices, statements, and employee expenses.

Requirements

Must-have Skills / Qualification:

  • Must have at least 2-3 years of professional accounting experience
  • Background should be in different accounting facets / general accounting
  • Proficiency in Excel is a must
  • Candidate must at least have a diploma or degree in accounting.

Advantageous:

  • Preferably someone from big companies/ corporation.
  • US Accounting experience is nice to have but role is open to candidates with strong local accounting experience.
