The Content Designer III is an expert practitioner in design thinking who advises, develops and leads cross-functional teams on content creation and strategies. They plan and facilitate ideation workshops and workshops that facilitate cross-team collaboration in order to build buy-in and influence decision making. They oversee the strategy for content design to ensure that it meets user and organizational objectives. They own and champion content design best practices and build processes and systems for implementation in order to craft scalable solutions.

Responsibilities and Contributions 
Organizational and Leadership Role 
  • Builds scalable content solutions for multiple cross-functional teams and Business Development strategies for new opportunities. 
  • Cultivates a community of growth and development through direction and mentorship of other team members.
  • Grows our content design community, eminence, and strategies, leads discussions of design practices and standards, and contributes to practice area communities and activities.
Functional Role 
Collaboration & Communication
  • Builds buy-in with Engineers, Product Managers, and fellow Designers to plan and implement the best possible solutions given the circumstances and risk.
  • Mentors Designers, Engineers, Scrum Masters, and Product Managers on content design best practices in order to establish internal systems that ensure that customer goals, user needs, and business needs are met.
  • Engages with Product Owners, stakeholders, and team leads to influence and develop roadmaps, build out requirements, and conceptualize and prioritize features. 
Implementation
  • Defines and develops strategies and policies, and provides guidance to others working in the strategic context, evaluating current strategies to ensure business requirements are being met and exceeded where possible.
  • Plans and facilitates content design workshops and brainstorming sessions on developing content.
  • Owns and champions the team's content design practices and standards through assessing and improving the quality, impact, and strategy of content outcomes and outputs. 
  • Mentors Designers and Engineers on best practices for managing, maintaining, and implementing content. 
  • Coaches, stewards, and directs other Designers and team members to develop their professional skills.
  • Designs and develops scalable content solutions for multiple cross-functional teams.
  • Analyzes content for consistency, accuracy, user experience implications, and adherence to style and language guides and brand standards.
  • Builds systems and processes for creating and maintaining high-quality content.
  • Facilitates and leads various research activities such as user and stakeholder interviews, usability testing, desk research, benchmarking of other products and services, mapping user objectives, and other forms of requirements discovery.
  • Facilitates and leads activities to determine content order such as mapping user journeys, scripting sub-conversations, card sorting, and competitive research and analysis and iteration. 
  • Sets the direction and assures deliverables are of high quality and consistent with design direction, best practices, and guidelines across teams. 
Essential Skills, Experience, or Competencies  
Must-Have Skills
  • A minimum of 6 years of demonstrated related working experience
  • A Bachelors Degree in a related field
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust (post-offer, as a part of onboarding)
  • To be considered, all applicants must provide a link to their online portfolio, to show their work and projects. This must be included at the time of application submission. 
  • Experience writing content for digital platforms or experiences, such as UX copy, blogs, social media, and web pages.
  • Demonstrated experience creating content audits, plans, and lexicons.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing stakeholder relationships and expectations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in identifying users and business needs, developing solutions to meet those needs through strong influencing and communication skills. 
  • Expert in designing and implementing content style guidelines to create engaging content.
  • Expert in the sustainability and consequences of design decisions and can make decisions characterized by managed levels of risk and complexity. 
  • Demonstrated expertise in attention to detail and strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to operate and manage work, strategically reason, build relationships, and influence others.
  • Industry expertise in design thinking and content design best practices. 
  • Demonstrated expertise supporting product and service development in a content-centered role.
  • Expert in conducting Flesch-Kincaid tests.
Highly Desired Skills or Experience 
  • Advanced understanding of agile processes and can advise colleagues on how and why agile methods are used and be able to provide a clear, open, and transparent framework in which teams can deliver. 
  • Knowledge of how to create and improve SEO to ensure searches return relevant content.
