Zayo is seeking a Network Optimization Engineer II - Packet to be responsible for coordinating and implementing network grooms to ensure the IP network stays in compliance with network guidelines.
NOTE: This role can be remote for locations within the United States.
Responsibilities:
Perform audits to engineer effective migration plans.
Schedule physical audits with field resources.
Work with internal teams such as architecture, deployment and operational engineering to ensure internal standards are met.
Engineer capacity details, such as router port, optics, cross-connects, fiber patches, etc.
Design and document new circuit paths.
Create internal orders, including detailed statement of work to complete the project.
Create detailed MOPs to ensure minimal downtime of customer services.
Secure internal resources within the NCC and Local Field Operation to get assistance in circuit migration.
Perform logical circuit grooms and work with field operations to move fibers/optics according to MOP specifications.
Update status and progress in salesforce on a regular basis.
Verify and update project documentation.
Assist colleagues on infrastructure builds and capacity augments.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related field required
Minimum of three (3) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the area of IP routing and network engineering.
Preferred Certification – JNCIA, CCNA.
Detail oriented, quality driven, self-directed, and self-motivated team player.
Familiar with fundamentals of IP routing and switching, including BGP, DNS, IP address management.
Flexible schedule to support after-hours maintenance operations.
Proficient with Juniper, Cisco, and Nokia routers are a plus.
Direct and recent experience troubleshooting circuit connectivity in a complex routed network environment.
Direct and recent experience using a router CLI to provision IP/Ethernet services.
Familiar with fundamentals of provisioning fiber based circuits in a datacenter environment, including patches, cross-connects, risers, and backhaul.
Experience working in a team within a complex and fast paced environment.
Good problem solving skills with the ability to focus on the salient facts in order to resolve an issue.
Experience organizing multiple, time sequenced tasks across several concurrent projects.
Familiar with Google Suite applications (Google Sheets, Google Docs, etc.)
Good communication skills – verbal and written.
Estimated base pay range: $64,700 - $85,000 USD/annually.
The base pay range shown is a guideline and reasonable estimate for this role. It takes into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions. Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted range based upon geographic location, work experience, skill level, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Non- sales roles may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive plan. Sales roles may be eligible to participate in a sales incentive plan.
