The future is being built today, and Johnson Controls is making that future more productive, secure, sustainable and far safer.  We are harnessing the power of cloud, the Internet of Things, and user design thinking to deliver intelligent buildings and smart cities that connect communities in ways that make people’s lives – and the world – better.  The Sr Learning Designer / Program Manager– Service & Operations Learning, will be a critical support as Johnson Controls pursues this mission, leading the successful design, deployment and program management of solutions for our service employees.

The Senior Learning Designer/Program Manager reports into the Learning and Development organization and leads learning initiatives supporting the JCI service business.  The role is located in Milwaukee, WI, and can be remote. Your challenge will be to design, develop and program manage learning programs that support our service leaders in building the knowledge and skills of field employees.  Working closely with key stakeholders, you will design and deliver training, collaborate on development, evaluate training effectiveness, and drive continuous improvement for upskilling our field leaders.  Requirements include consultative skills, strong facilitation skills, excellent business acumen, a willingness to act amid ambiguity, strong project management skills and the ability to operate in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment. 

What Impact Will You Have?

  • Design and facilitate a learning program for Johnson Control new hire field managers, helping them best prepare for working in the field. 

  • Immerse yourself in the end-to-end process of identifying a business need, partnering with sponsors to design training and change solutions, and ensuring effective learning gets delivered to audiences and maintained over time.

  • Impact frontline employees by creating resources for them build skills around being more proactive, trusted advisors for their customers. 

  • Investigate new opportunities and develop effective training that is impactful and inventive.

  • Align your ingenuity and innovative ideas with the global strategic plan of the business.  

  • Learn on a day-to-day basis about how Johnson Controls products and technology support our customers’ business objectives and are propelling the industry forward.  

  • Design systems to house information, streamline content, present to leaders, and get learning to the field.

How Will You Accomplish This?
Sr LXD - Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with change, communications, and business team members to ensure your learning solutions positively drive required upskilling and behavior change. 

  • Use strong project management skills in developing outcomes that positively impact the business.

  • Act as an internal consultant to combine multiple perspectives into holistic solutions that maximize the impact to the business.

  • Build and monitor training deliverables and roadmap(s) for specific roles within the field business.

  • Leverage innovative learning technologies and platforms to deploy learning, including the Johnson Controls Learning Hub (our LXP), LMS (Learning Management System), and Acadia.

  • Maintain current knowledge of trends and issues in learning design, training, and technical learning.

Program Manager –Responsibilities

  • Design programs that drive field effectiveness and provide upskilling opportunities for our employees.

  • Facilitate your programs to cohorts of new hire field managers.

  • Own end to end new hire training from design to deployment of new hire manager programming (we will help with development). Use data to drive your learning design, and to evaluate effectiveness of training solutions.

  • Use learner data to modify existing programs and redesign based on participant feedback.

  • Hold learner interviews, focus groups, needs analyses and pilots to identify, address and redesign learning events.

  • Work very closely with developers who will build your designs.  Need your ability to flex on time, as we have a global team.  

  • Build strong partnerships with business leaders; collaborate with stakeholders to prioritize work. Be able to flexibly and creatively brainstorm solutions to changing business needs.

  • Use your exceptional project management skills to track and drive learning solutions tied to business needs.

  • Own the end to end learning strategy to include needs analysis, iterative design and development cycles, deployment, measurement, and maintenance of your solutions. 

What We Look For:

  • Experience with Power BI, Acadia, Learning Experience Platform, and various learning management systems.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design, Education, Adult Learning or related discipline. A Master’s degree in related field is preferred. Alternatively, leadership experience in a technical field with progressive responsibility for training will be considered.

  • 5+ years of designing and developing learning solutions.

  • Thinks outside the box, is creative and forward thinking; constantly looking forward at new technologies or ideas.

  • Very comfortable with grey areas; can adapt and change to meet business needs.

  • Realizes the importance of details in leading to impactful outcomes.

  • Collaborative – Builds true partnerships with other learning designers, program managers, and business partners.

  • Willing to assume authority, take risks, and set clear goals for career development.

  • Has personal ethics, does quality work and has a positive attitude.

  • Your writing and communication skills must be strong.
