**This position is eligible to work from home anywhere in the United States**

Essential Functions:

  • Performs field inspections across the country on multiple large loss claims of the highest complexity and individual authority, and prepares detailed, quality estimates.
  • Analyzes coverage and determines appropriate coverage applications.
  • Prepares reservation of rights and denial letters.
  • Sets timely and accurate reserves with proper communication to the agent and large loss leadership.
  • Obtains and analyzes the appropriate business records in order to estimate and verify business income loss.
  • Facilitates the prompt replacement or repair of business personal property. Performs re-inspections.
  • Prepares and implements Critical Path Development plans to establish effective and timely steps to repair or replace damaged property and restore business operations.  
  • Identifies the appropriate vendors and experts needed, coordinates their services, and monitors their activity.
  • Assists with and/or leads on-site coordination of CAT adjusting activities.      
  • Properly manages all assigned files.  
  • Ensures claims are handled in accordance with the company best practices and company claim handling guidelines.  
  • Documents and files all necessary paperwork and reports for claims.  Develops loss schedules.  
  • Maintains a timely diary for optimum case management and provides detailed, clear, and concise claim notes and reports.  
  • Develops and prepares large loss reports, including statements of loss, loss schedules, and reserve worksheets, and communicates those reports to leader.  
  • Investigates for subrogation potential and initiates the appropriate recovery actions. Identifies potential fraud and refers cases to Special Investigative Unit (SIU) as necessary.  
  • Participates in any subsequent subrogation and SIU investigations or proceedings.                                                                                                                  
  • Serves as a consultant for Property Claims team members to answer claims questions and provides input on further handling.  
  • Helps identify training needs and assists with developing and administering global training initiatives for Property Claims team members.
  • Provides input on training materials and helps plan and present during conferences and other assigned projects.

        

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent relevant experience 
  • Ten years of experience with property claims adjusting, including at least six years of experience handling large and complex property losses 
  • Construction or related experience may be considered in meeting the experience requirements
  • Attainment of all applicable state licenses as required
  • Insurance designations such as AIC, CPCU, and/or other insurance education preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent, proven knowledge of large loss management and technical file handling
  • Excellent knowledge of the theory and practice of the claims function, and demonstrated experience of good judgment with regard to property large loss adjustment and coverage
  • Strong knowledge of accounting and finance principles 
  • Excellent knowledge of insurance contracts
  • Excellent leadership and negotiation qualities
  • Excellent knowledge of computers and claims systems
  • Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced investigative and problem-solving abilities
  • Extensive travel, including flying; a valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle report per company standards required if driving

The hiring salary range for this position will vary based on geographic location, falling within either the $109,818-$157,391 range or the $121,061-$173,534 range. A hiring range represents a subset of the full salary range.  The actual salary will depend on several factors, including relevant education, skills, and experience of an applicant, geographic location, and business needs.
