Job description

This position is with the Global Strategic Communications Council (GSCC), a global network of communications professionals in the field of climate, energy and nature. GSCC is a programme hosted by the Meliore Foundation. We are looking for a talented Creative Manager to drive the production of compelling creative for campaigns that inspire audiences to act on climate change.

You will be responsible for managing the Creative & Product Team, a team of six graphic designers, video editors and web developers within GSCC’s International Digital Hub team of digital campaigners and experts. You will be in charge of creating a vision for that team’s growth and developing them to get there. You will also scale our work by engaging freelancers and agencies in a structured way as we take on more and more exciting campaigns.

Our ideal candidate should be able to use their creative thinking, their knowledge of technical best practices and interactions with our audience insight experts to develop creative concepts for individual campaigns, and organise the team to create effective products that shift our audiences’ thinking.

The right candidate for this role should be excited by the challenge of driving campaign creative aimed at audiences that span a vast range of regions and cultures from broad public audiences to targeted niche communities; on a range of issues from emotional storytelling to technical information to breaking news; and for a range of scenarios from individual products (websites, videos, graphics, infographics, audio, reports, etc.) to large-scale multichannel campaigns.

How you'll contribute

This position reports directly to the Director of the International Digital Hub and will:

  • Lead and develop a high-impact team: Manage and develop the six members of the Creative & Product team, setting the team’s vision, growth plans and resourcing needs.
  • Develop engaging creative concepts: For a range of individual campaigns, develop creative concepts, working closely with campaigners and audience insights experts and actively shaping campaign development rather than passively implementing briefs.
  • Drive the production of compelling creative: Organise the team, its processes and its tech stack to ensure the production of timely, effective creative that leverages industry best practice and audience insights.
  • Scale our creative production: Engage freelancers and agencies in a structured way.
  • Any other duties to be assigned from time to time

Our ideal candidate has:

  • Extensive experience producing creative concepts to shift audiences, including for large-scale multichannel campaigns - a background in design and/or copywriting is an advantage
  • Experience line managing - and developing - teams and creative talent.
  • Proficiency in the project management related to leading a content production team and creative projects, including managing stakeholders, scheduling, budgeting, and time management across multiple projects and multiple countries.
  • Ability to work with digital campaigners and analysts to ascertain whether creative is working as desired or not.
  • A genuine interest in the mission and values of Meliore;
  • Fluency in English, with knowledge of any other languages a distinct advantage;
  • Ability to work flexibly, both independently and in a team;
  • The versatile and adaptable skills necessary to flourish in a fast-paced and wide-ranging work environment and work across phone/video conferencing, time zones, Slack, email, Trello, etc.
  • A commitment to an inclusive and empowering approach to facing climate change.
