They specialize in supporting Indigenous communities by decolonizing research practices, centering Indigenous Knowledge, and promoting self-determination. With over 100 professionals working across several business units, including Environmental Assessment and Indigenous Knowledge Research, they are dedicated to delivering high-quality research and technical services that amplify community voices.


The Role

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager - Environmental Assessment to join a dynamic team. This position requires expertise in managing complex, multi-method research and engagement projects, ensuring client expectations are met. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of project management in the environmental sector, particularly in Indigenous engagement and assessment.


This role offers flexibility, with options to work from ON, BC, or AB. Travel of up to 10 days per month is required.


Indigenous candidates are highly preferred.


Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in a consulting environment within the natural resource and environmental sectors.
  • 5+ years of experience working with and for Indigenous communities.
  • Strong project management skills, including scope development, budgeting, and scheduling.
  • Experience supervising and mentoring staff.
  • Proficiency in coordinating research teams and ensuring quality control of research data.
  • Knowledge of Environmental Assessment processes, with a focus on Indigenous engagement and assessment.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is an asset.
  • Indigenous candidates are highly preferred.


Responsibilities

Project Management:

  • Oversee the execution of complex, multi-method research projects aligned with client values and expectations.
  • Develop and monitor project scopes, plans, budgets, and schedules.
  • Allocate fiscal and human resources to ensure project success.
  • Coordinate research teams, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
  • Oversee and manage project budgets to ensure profitability and cash flow.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines during community engagement work.

Client Engagement:

  • Collaborate with community partners, team members, and external consultants.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through service excellence and knowledge sharing.
  • Develop culturally appropriate project management strategies that align with Indigenous values.

People Leadership:

  • Foster a positive and inclusive workplace aligned with organizational values.
  • Provide mentorship and feedback to research staff.
  • Support professional development initiatives within the organization.
  • Implement project management tools and best practices to enhance efficiency.
