About The Position
As a Studio Technical Art Director at Flying Wild Hog, you will play a crucial role in shaping technical execution of the artistic vision for all our projects. You will be responsible for overseeing the art content production pipelines and supervising a team of Technical artists, Technical animators, Material artists and VFX artists to ensure the delivery of top-tier visual experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Direction of Production Pipelines:
Identify artistic and technical constraints of the project to oversee the creation of tools, processes, and methods that optimize graphic production, including environment composition, asset modeling, texturing, lighting, and VFX.
Guide the implementation and monitoring of technical validation and world compliance processes to optimize CPU and GPU performance.
Initiate and supervise research and innovation phases on tools or methods to materialize artistic intentions while respecting project constraints.
Team Management:
Lead and mentor team leads, setting goals, and priorities and guiding them to meet production team expectations.
With collaboration of HR provide regular feedback and support to help team members develop their full potential.
Foster a growth mindset within leads and teams to excel in R&D and Preproduction phases.
Coordination with Project Management:
Act as an expert on graphic production pipelines, advising the Directors on development strategy.
Coordinate research efforts with other studios and projects, maintaining regular synchronization with other Directors.
TechArt & Art Standardization:
Collaborate with senior leadership and art leadership in stablishing effective processes for art production that meet both Artistic Direction and Technical Quality.
Standardize the processes for TechArt and Art production across the entire company.
With the team, develop and enforce best practices for asset creation, optimization, and implementation across all projects.
Collaborate with the art and engineering teams to innovate and implement new tools and techniques to enhance the production pipeline.
Qualifications
Over 5 years of experience in the video game industry with several productions as a Technical Artist, Associate Technical Art Director, or Technical Art Director.
Strong expertise in graphic production methods and pipelines for AAA projects.
