Overview:
The Regulatory Attorney supports the VP, Associate General Counsel on advising on a wide range of regulatory matters that impact the company's operations. The position will provide guidance on federal and state regulations, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Intellectual Property (IP), Medicare, Medicaid, healthcare insurance regulations, healthcare reimbursement, cyber security, and privacy/data rights. This position will play a critical role on a team of legal and compliance professionals and the AI governance team. This role will be responsible for the assessment of new and existing laws and regulations as well as the documentation, monitoring, and advising of laws impacting individual business units.
Responsibilities:
- Advise internal stakeholders on complex federal and state regulatory issues, specifically on matters stemming from AI, IP, healthcare insurance claims, healthcare reimbursement, Medicare, Medicaid, and laws impacting cyber security, privacy and data rights.
- Lead the legal and compliance team on interpretation of AI laws and regulations that impact company’s operations. Play a key role on the company’s AI governance team.
- Monitor applicable legislative and regulatory developments, assess impacts to business, and support implementation of new requirements and guidance.
- Provide support to colleagues in Legal and Compliance and business units for responses to regulatory inquiries or complaints, and support business operations by providing reliable and timely guidance on daily regulatory issues.
- Conduct research projects requested by legal and compliance or business partners; answer questions from business units as they relate to research findings and provide advice on interpretation of the research findings, including the impact on or barriers to proposed new business strategies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Develop effective strategies to resolve novel and complex privacy, data rights, cyber security, and AI or IP legal questions with minimal supervision.
- Draft, review, and interpret regulatory filings, contracts, and other legal documents related to AI, IP, and other matters that impact the company operations.
- Draft documentation to highlight regulatory topics trending across states.
- Represent the company in interactions with regulatory bodies, including responding to inquiries and managing the submission of required reports.
- Complete all responsibilities as outlined in the annual performance review and/or goal setting.
- Complete all special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active bar membership.
- 8 -10 years of experience gained in a large law firm and/or in-house setting.
- Experience navigating legal issues stemming from new and emerging AI guidelines in the technology, insurance, or healthcare industry.
- Understanding of current and emerging regulations related to AI, IP, Medicare, Medicaid, healthcare insurance regulations, healthcare reimbursement, cyber security, and privacy/data rights.
- Strong research skills with the ability to identify relevant laws and regulations affecting business units.
- Verbal and written communication and analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex legal and regulatory concepts into actionable advice for business leaders in a clear and concise manner.
- Work independently with little or no supervision and be available and responsive to legal and compliance team members and business units in a remote working environment.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Travel as assigned by leadership up to 5%.
- Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.

- Assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.

Base compensation ranges from $140,000 to $162,000 per year. Specific offers are determined by various factors, such as experience, education, skills, certifications, and other business needs.
