Job description

Billing Manager:

The Billing Manager (internally titled, Manager, Accounting) will oversee invoicing, revenue recognition compliance, and customer billing inquiries in a fast-paced SaaS environment. This role will be responsible for managing the end-to-end billing process, ensuring accurate and timely invoicing, resolving disputes, and optimizing billing workflows.

The ideal candidate will have experience with subscription-based billing, usage-based pricing models, and ERP systems (e.g., Sage Intacct, BillingPlatform). They will collaborate closely with Finance, Customer Success, and Sales teams to enhance billing efficiency, enforce contract terms, and drive process improvements. Success in this role requires strong analytical skills, a proactive problem-solving mindset, and the ability to lead a team while ensuring seamless billing operations.

What You'll Do: 

● Ensure financial goals and objectives are met and communicated and drive any necessary ongoing financial process improvements.
● Prepare reports in support of the monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
● Prepare and review reconciliations in support of financial statements
● Work closely with Accounting and Finance teams in analysis and reconciliation of accounts and in development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures and controls
● Manage the monthly financial close process, including Billing, ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded, reviewing journal entries, account balance reconciliations and report preparation
● Document month-end closing processes and checklists
● Participate in the ongoing development of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies including the review and implementation of process and system changes.
● Continued focus on improving system efficiencies and business practices
● Participate in strategic financial projects including software upgrades
● Ensure compliance with internal control policies
● Collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance
● Interacts at all levels with other stakeholders to produce timely, efficient and accurate month-end close and all internal management and financial reporting through annual report
● Responsible for hierarchy and scalability in chart of accounts and accuracy in the general ledger and financial statements and has ultimate authority over classification and booking of all transactions
● Analyze the effect of statutory accounting practices and studies regulations and guidance to ensure correct application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
● Make recommendations for changes as needed and ensure that company policies and procedures are followed and establishes the proper techniques to discover and prevent fraud
● Prepare and or prepare detailed journal entries and account analyses
● Prepare summary feedback of financial statements variances to budget

What You’ll Bring:

● CPA preferred
● Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or higher, with knowledge of US GAAP
● 5+ years experience within tech companies 
● Experience with subscription base billing, usage-based pricing models, and ERP systems (e.g., Sage Intacct, BillingPlatform).
● Strong organizational skills for managing multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment
● Technical thought leader
● Intermediate to advanced excel skills and proven success working in other financial software
● Well-honed attention to detail to ensure completion and accuracy on all tasks and projects
● An ability to resolve issues as they arise and utilize forward-thinking to generate process improvements, as needed

The base salary for this position is $110,000.00 - $125,000.00. Compensation may vary depending on several factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience, competencies, and geographic location. Some roles may qualify for extra incentives like equity, commissions, or other variable performance-related bonuses.
