JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The McCourtney Institute for Democracy is seeking a part-time marketing communications specialist to join our team to assist with social media and community engagement among our podcast listeners, other organizations in the democracy space, and the Penn State student community.

Job duties include

  • Create social media content for the McCourtney Institute and The Democracy Group podcast network
  • Produce and publish The Democracy Group’s bi-weekly newsletter
  • Create original content for The Democracy Group blog and Penn State News
  • Explore opportunities for community growth
  • Assist with the production of digital media content, as needed
  • Assist on other marketing communications projects, as assigned

Requirements:

  • Community-focused individual who loves engaging others online in civic topics
  • Ability to work remotely and collaboratively with multiple parties
  • Strong writing, communication, and research skills
  • Ability to work independently and troubleshoot problems as they arise
  • A goal-oriented individual who approaches projects with a positive, inquisitive mindset
  • A desire to learn new digital media and marketing skills (prior podcasting skills a plus but not required)
  • Knowledge of social media platforms, Mailchimp, and Zoom preferred

The position is fully remote, though office space at University Park is available if needed.
