Staff Hardware Product Owner

Meet the team:

Hardware Product Owners (HPO) are the linchpin of the hardware R&D organization and are accountable for the technical execution & success of Dexcom’s hardware products.  The HPO will be responsible for setting technical direction for the products, working closelet with cross functional teams through all phases of product development, help drive system level technical decisions, and risk identification & mitigation activities. This role will directly interface with senior management to ensure alignment with business and organizational needs.

Where you come in:

• You will drive end to end delivery of all aspects of hardware engineering to enable multiple new products and programs.

• You will create strategic and tactical plans to achieve organizational goals; and work with a cross functional team through their day-to-day operations to achieve said goals.

• You will provide ‘voice-of-function’ in cross-functional decision making

• You will be accountable for the functional deliverables; works with extended teams to generate and review deliverables

• You will maintain linkages to functional area to ensure application of best practices, policies, business processes, etc.

• You will participate in functional reviews and contribution to the end to end development program through coordination of the extended team(s)

• Mediate technical discussions and decisions

• Balance technical requirements with project cost, timeline and scope. 

What makes you successful:

• Proven industry experience in one or more hardware engineering domains, with demonstrated ability to lead highly technical multi-disciplinary engineering teams (EE, PD, FW, Sensors, Materials, Process, OPS, and QA).

• Proven track record in managing and executing through all stages of product development life cycle 

• Ability to align goals and coordinate activities between product management, hardware engineering, systems engineering, quality, regulatory, operations, testing, and documentation.

• Ability to work in a deadline-driven and fast-paced environment including managing multiple projects

• Ability to deal with ambiguity – effectively and efficiently navigate ambiguity to translate goals into clear strategic milestones and tactical execution plans. 

• Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate, build relationships, and lead multi-disciplinary teams in a matrix environment.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey numerous and complex technical information clearly & effectively in small and large settings and at all levels in the organization, including senior management. 

• Emotional intelligence - Proven ability to handle interpersonal relationships efficiently and empathetically to motivate, influence, and manage conflict within cross functional teams.

Experience and Education Requirements: 

• Typically requires a Bachelors degree in a technical discipline with 8-12 years of related industry experience or a Masters degree and 5-7 years equivalent industry experience of a PhD and 2-4 years of experience.

Remote Workplace: Your location will be a home office; you are not required to live within commuting distance of your assigned Dexcom site (typically 75 miles/120km). If you reside within commuting distance of a Dexcom site (typically 75 miles/120km) a hybrid working environment may be available. Ask about our Flex workplace option.
