As a Director, US Market Access Strategy and Innovation you will be a champion of Otsuka’s culture and values, and will be responsible for driving the optimization of Otsuka’s understanding and navigation of the complex access landscape and dynamics. Through a wide range of pipeline and portfolio responsibilities, this individual is positioned to impact patient access to Otsuka therapies in both the short and long term.
This position will be responsible for ensuring US Market Access expertise is accounted for in select pipeline planning efforts as well as development of initial Market Access strategies in anticipation of commercial launches. In line with the long-term landscape point of view, this position will also be responsible for deeper channel expertise to support effective strategic planning and preparation across the Team. This position reports to Senior Director, US Market Access Strategy and Innovation
This position is remote. Travel is expected up to once a month based on business needs.
Job Description:
Provide critical input from a pricing, reimbursement, access, coverage and policy perspective to help inform key strategic decisions in pipeline planning to ensure optimal performance potential
Develop initial US Market Access strategies for pipeline products and refine them through research, analytics and insights to successfully transition future assets to in-line Teams for launch and future lifecycle stages
Support the development and management of a clear US Market Access future landscape point of view for Otsuka that guides strategic planning across the portfolio and establishes a deeper understanding of the customers and stakeholders we support who provide access to our therapies
Develop and maintain deep expertise on key Payer channels through application of current knowledge and keeping a pulse on emerging issues and policy dynamics – offering a proactive view to aid enhanced business planning with the Access team and across the organization
Generate a portfolio value platform to align strategic planning from in-line to pipeline that can evolve as evidence and access insights evolve for the organization
Lead budget and vendor management activities to ensure timely and fiscally responsible project execution.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree required
10+ years of bio/pharmaceutical experience required with a key understanding of current US pharmaceutical value chain across a variety of therapeutic areas and unique needs.
5+ years of US Market Access experience
5+ years of experience in strategic roles such as Marketing, Finance, or other similar commercial functions
Experience with pipeline planning from a market access and/or financial planning perspective and the ability to demonstrate an understanding and appreciation for organizational implications of the comprehensive asset strategy
Experience with life cycle planning – including loss-of-exclusivity events, competitive dynamic changes, importance and utilization of evidence generation plans and impact of policy changes
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Deep understanding of the US Market Access landscape and experience in developing strategies for brands or portfolios that account for the changing environment while also impacting the external space to ensure patient access to critical therapies
Demonstrated skills in business planning and strong problem-solving skills
Strong industry financial acumen required to understand critical decisions on performance potential of market access strategies and approaches
Demonstrated ability to analyze reports, publications and data to derive key insights to influence strategic thinking and cross-functional education
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to align with others towards optimal goals, deliverables and outcomes
Strong leadership and teamwork skills with demonstrated ability to work cross functionally to gain alignment and improve business performance
Candidates must be flexible, possess a positive mindset, work with a high sense of urgency, and excel at collaboration with peers
Ability to travel as required for conferences, customer engagements and internal meetings
