Job description

Summary:

We’re seeking an experienced Senior Product Manager to help drive the evolution of the core Surfline user experience across all of our platforms (iOS, Android, Web) and subscription tiers. Your squad has two main goals: help surfers check ocean conditions using cameras and sensors, and help them track their ocean activities to improve their performance and build community with fellow surfers. In practice, this means working with computer vision and AI technology to build useful products on top of our global camera network, creating new ways to track and relive surf sessions using smart watches, and providing surfers with engaging stats, video, and social experiences.

You’ll be responsible for driving the vision and execution of a core product squad’s roadmap from discovery to launch. Your mission is to create impact for our customers and for the business. You’ll report to the Group Product Manager and will work with an exceptional cross-functional group of engineers, designers, data scientists and operations people to set product direction that delivers on company strategy.

We’re looking for an experienced product manager who has successfully launched and grown consumer products, displays a high degree of ownership and a proven ability to balance technical and business constraints on the way to driving impact. You may have experience with camera and computer vision based products or activity tracking apps. Understanding surfing and water sports is desired but not required - we know the best PMs can build empathy for any customer segment.

Under Surfline’s “Work from Anywhere” policy, this position may be performed on a full-time remote basis from a variety of locations in the US.  You will work with teams in time zones ranging from GMT (United Kingdom) to PST (California). Candidates should be based in the US, with a preference for candidates in the EST time zone.

What You'll Do:
  • Drive product roadmap - both vision and execution - for one of our core product squads.
  • Lead and motivate a team of engineers and other cross-functional representatives.
  • Build best-in-class product experiences, taking into account the latest technology and UX patterns and Surfline’s vision and strategy.
  • Incorporate data, research, and market analysis to inform product strategies and roadmaps.
  • Use your strong leadership, organizational, and execution skills to drive impact.
  • Measure and track impact by defining KPIs for your squad and your product roadmap.
What We're Looking For:
  • Experience: Product experience: 6+ years of PM experience with significant user-facing product experience, ideally in B2C apps.
  • Problem solving: You have an ability to quickly and systematically break down complex problems into insights and next steps, drawing on both qualitative and quantitative insights you’ve gathered.
  • Communication: You’re a crisp communicator who can easily move between technical, strategic, and execution focused conversations, both verbally and written.
  • Ownership mindset: You have an ownership mindset and will roll up your sleeves to make sure your team is successful.
  • Leadership: You know how to motivate engineers, designers, and stakeholders to achieve a common goal.
  • Mobile expertise: You’ve overseen or built mobile experiences from scratch and know the ins and outs of building world-class products on iOS and Android.
  • Team-first: You bring a team-first mentality and a knack for working well with a wide range of people.
You May Also Have:
  • Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, Segment, Amplitude, Braze, Wordpress, Zendesk and Stripe.
  • Experience building products that use computer vision-AI technology, camera expertise and-or activity tracking experience.
  • Passion for ocean-going activities, ideally surfing.

Compensation and Benefits:

The base salary range for this position is: $130,000 - $160,000. In accordance with applicable state laws, the range provided is Surfline's reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may be higher or lower, based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and location.
