Our payment products include merchant acquiring services, a proprietary gateway, ACH processing, fraud & chargeback tools, analytics, and other value-add services. Maverick’s team includes underwriting, risk management, compliance & legal, technology & product development, on-boarding, customer support, information technology, and more.

About the Position: 
Reporting to the VP of Operations, the Director of Business Development (DBD) is responsible for maintaining close relationships with existing clients/partners.  In such capacity, the DBD oversees the activities of Department personnel including, without limitation, personnel in the business development functions, as well as account administration for acquiring reseller relationships in addition to maintaining good standing relationships with existing clients/resellers. 

 
  • Directly oversees and performs all leadership aspects of departments within Business Development.
  • Planning and directing the work of Department employees using independent judgment within Company parameters.
  • Directing and supervising identification, evaluation and pursuit of new and existing business opportunities.
  • Coordination of hiring, training, and performance management for Business Development functions. 
  • Advising on policy and procedure enhancements to enhance business development throughout the Company.
  • Acting in partnership with Department Leadership and Company Legal personnel, negotiating new reseller agreements.
  • Acting as a liaison direct to the Partner Success group, which includes but not limited to Partner Support, Partner Development, Premier etc. to handle escalations, in addition to schedule A updates, revisions, addendums etc. of any existing reseller not currently assigned to a Business Development employee. Managing updates or changes to existing relationships, promoting satisfaction with Company’s services.
  • Acting as an escalation point to resolve unique or complex business development issues that do not have standardized solutions.
  • Understand and present promotions, tools and tech that meet partner’s needs. Presents tailored solutions or proposals that address those needs and provide value to the prospect.
  • Negotiates partner rates or terms using expertise and independent judgement to meet the prospect's needs while ensuring profitability for the company.
  • Attends conventions, conferences, and other industry related events to engage new prospective sales relationships.
  • Continue to engage with clients to ensure satisfaction and potentially negotiate renewal rates to ensure retention of services in the future.
  • Provides monthly reporting and tracking of new partners signed, submission stats of existing partners etc. signed by Business Development employees etc.
  • Assisting with company’s social media accounts, including but not limited to LinkedIn etc.
  • Collaborate with different departments to ensure the Business Development team is cross-trained and offer Maverick’s various products and offerings to sales partners
  • Exercising independent judgment, discretion and decision making related to department escalations and responsibilities.
  • Reviewing and enhancing Departmental division of duties and responsibilities among employees of assigned Company Departments.
  • Directly handle activities related to business development including, without limitation:
  • Prospects, recruits and develop new sales partnerships (Resellers/ISO’s/ISV’s/Strategic Partners) primarily via self-generated leads by utilizing cold calling, professional networking, and personal connections and resources within the candidate’s network. 
  • Moves prospects through the sales pipeline and secure agreements or contracts. Engages with and closes inbound leads using consultative selling best practices.
  • Maintaining close relationships with partners of Company.  
  • Develops and maintains close relationships with premier client business leads.
  • Assigning new reseller leads to Business Development employees.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minium of 5-7 years’ experience in Sales or Business Development position.
  • 2-5 years in a leadership role specific to merchant services.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or industry.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite including Microsoft Excel.
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.

Pay Range:  $120k- $140K annually plus commission
