Since 2019, and thanks to the support from the European Commission, OpenNebula Systems has been leading the edge computing innovation in Europe, investing heavily in research and open source development, and playing a key role in strategic EU initiatives such as the IPCEI-CIS and the “European Alliance for Industrial Data, Edge and Cloud”.
We are currently looking for a PMO Specialist to come and join us in Europe as part of our new Open-Source Innovation Unit to manage innovation projects and contracts as part of our EU and Spanish Project portfolio,ensuring that all innovation projects are executed efficiently and in line with the technological priorities.
Job Description
As a PMO Specialist you will be responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of multiple IT projects with 3rd party providers and contractors. Your duties include ensuring that project plans are developed, milestones are met and technical results are delivered while ensuring that processes and templates are implemented. As a technology company, the position requires you have at least a bachelor’s degree in computer science engineering, or a related field, as well as prior management experience or experience with management of projects in the infrastructure software field. Skills that are useful in your job search and throughout your career include leadership, the ability to direct a project with many different parts, and strong written and verbal communication. What you will do

Monitoring the execution of projects with 3rd party contractors, and its execution aligned with the development roadmap of OpenNebula
- Managing a large number of IT projects simultaneously, from initiation to delivery, ensuring adherence to project scope, milestones, KPIs, timelines, and budget
- Defining processes and templates, and standardizing across all IT projects ensuring standards are always met
- Collaborating closely with development and engineering teams and stakeholders to define project objectives, requirements, and deliverables that meet use cases, collaborations and team needs
- Utilizing industry-standard project management methodologies, including Waterfall and Agile (Scrum), to deliver iterative solutions that align with project goals
- Communicating project status, progress, and risks to stakeholders, team members, and senior management.
- Coordinating project communication and dissemination in collaboration with digital marketing and community teams
- Defining and monitoring resource allocation, risk assessments, and contingency plans
- Utilizing management tools to track project progress, document project details, and generate insightful reports for analysis and decision-making
- Scheduling, managing and coordinating software releases
Contributing to the preparation of new project proposals
What you will bring
- Fluency in Spanish and English
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience as a Project Manager or similar position
- PMI or PMP certification (or similar) from an accredited organization is recommended
- Experience in managing research & innovation projects funded by the European Commission (FP7, H2020 or Horizon Europe) or by Member States is a plus
- Hands-on experience in managing or contributing to open source software projects
- Ability to work in a matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
- Strong leadership skills, including the ability to set goals and provide constructive feedback respectfully to build positive relationships and improve business results
- Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced changing environment
- Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization and to interact with external stakeholders
- Multi-tasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in a timely manner
- Strong organizational, planning, and follow-up skills and ability to hold others accountable
