Job description

Summit Human Capital is seeking a highly motivated Sr. Scientific Software Engineer to support a Venture Backed Cancer Detection company. This position is an exciting opportunity to support a highly-funded startup with some of the best engineers in the industry. The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Bioinformatics, or a related field, with 5+ years of experience in scientific or research-driven environments.
  • Extensive knowledge of software validation, quality systems, and compliance standards (ISO 13485, IEC 62304)
  • Expertise in Python, with additional proficiency in Rust, C++, or Go.
  • Strong background in cloud computing (AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure), particularly in scalable and distributed system design.
  • Hands-on experience with workflow automation tools (Nextflow, Snakemake) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
Desired:
  • Previous work in start-up environments, demonstrating adaptability to fast-moving and evolving priorities.
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal oversight—this role requires a self-starter who can immediately contribute.
  • Strong team player with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with bioinformatics and research teams to develop software solutions that meet biological and scientific objectives.
  • Translate scientific needs into scalable and compliant software that aligns with research goals.
  • Assist in the implementation and optimization of bioinformatics algorithms alongside cross-functional teams.
  • Develop and maintain high-performance data processing pipelines using Nextflow and other workflow tools.
  • Design and deploy scalable cloud-based solutions for data storage and computational analysis.
  • Promote best practices in software engineering, including automated testing, CI/CD, and version control strategies.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and quality assurance by contributing to validation, testing, and documentation efforts.
