Job description

Position Title: Quantity Surveyor
Work Set-up: Work from Home or Onsite
Salary: 40 to 60k
Schedule: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (Canberra AU Time) or 5:30 am to 2 pm (Phil time)

Their expertise spans concrete pumping, placing, and finishing, making them a go-to service provider in the region. The team has a proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, overcoming challenges such as geographical limitations and resource availability. They maintain strict compliance with health and safety standards and uphold environmentally responsible practices throughout the project lifecycle.

The Quantity Surveyor will play a critical role in managing the contractual aspects of construction projects. You will be responsible for cost estimating, budgeting, and contract administration for residential and commercial projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cost management, excellent communication skills, and proficiency in industry software.

JOB DESCRIPTION FOR A QUANTITY SURVEYOR


Responsibilities as Quantity Surveyor:
• Measuring jobs with pre-defined dimension groups (Also creating new ones if required)
• Prepare precise cost estimates for materials, specifically on concreting cost and associated project elements, ensuring all costs are accounted for and aligned with the project’s financial plan.
• Prepare and review BOQs for each project phase, ensuring that all construction elements are covered and properly documented for accurate project execution.
• Ensure projects comply with relevant health and safety standards, environmental regulations, and other industry-specific requirements.
• Continuously track and monitor project budgets, proactively adjusting forecasts as necessary to stay within financial constraints while maintaining quality standards.
• Engage and collaborate with contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to secure competitive rates, foster strong working relationships, and ensure smooth project execution.
• Manage invoicing and basic bookkeeping tasks using Xero, ensuring all financial records are accurate and up-to-date and payments are processed efficiently.
• Provide flexible administrative assistance, including preparing documents, organizing project files, maintaining records, and supporting day-to-day operations as needed (to ensure the smooth running of the office and projects












Qualifications required as a Quantity Surveyor:
• A degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related field, providing a strong foundation in construction and cost management principles.
• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally in the residential or commercial construction sector.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite (advanced in Excel), Bluebeam, and Cubit are ideal
• Experience in using Adobe and Canva is an advantage
• 2-3 years of practical experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with a proven track record in managing construction project costs, contracts, and budgets.
• Familiar with Canberra's local pricing and construction costs to ensure accurate and competitive estimates is an advantage
• Strong ability to prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates, monitor budgets, and forecast project expenses to maintain financial control throughout the project lifecycle.
• High attention to detail, ensuring precise measurement and quantification of materials and project elements for accurate reporting and cost control.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure smooth project execution and timely issue resolution.
• Experience with Xero accounting software is an advantage.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with project managers, contractors, and stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
• Knowledge or experience in social media/graphic design management is an advantage for additional future tasks.
