The Role 

​​The IT PMO Delivery Manager is responsible for leading a team of Project/Program Managers within the IT Project Management Office (PMO) to ensure the successful delivery of IT projects for our customers. This role involves overseeing the execution of a diverse portfolio of projects, providing leadership, mentorship, and guidance to the project management team, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget. The Delivery Manager will also be responsible for refining and maintaining project management processes, tools, and best practices to optimize project success across the business.  Resource capacity management and project data hygiene are also key deliverables for the role.

Key Responsibilities 

Leadership & Team Management: 

  • Lead and mentor a team of Project/Program Managers to successfully deliver IT projects, ensuring alignment with the organization's business objectives. 

  • Provide coaching, performance reviews, and professional development support to project management staff. 

  • Foster a collaborative and results-driven environment within the PMO, promoting teamwork and a high level of accountability. 

  • Manage resource allocation and project assignments for the project management team to ensure capacity and project demands are balanced. 

  • Engage with leaders across the IT operations to facilitate project success. 

Project Oversight & Delivery: 

  • Oversee and monitor the delivery of multiple IT projects, ensuring they are progressing as planned and are aligned with organizational goals.  Validate risk mitigation plans are in place when needed.   

  • Act as an escalation point for Project/Program Managers to resolve complex issues and challenges that arise during project delivery. 

  • Ensure that projects are being delivered on time, within scope and budget, applying change requests as applicable. 

  • Regularly review and adjust project plans and timelines to ensure the achievement of milestones and project outcomes in conjunction with the project manager. 

Project Management Process and Governance: 

  • Establish, maintain, and enforce PMO processes, methodologies, and best practices across all projects to ensure consistency and high standards of delivery. 

  • Lead the implementation and maintenance of project management tools, templates, and standards to improve efficiency and effectiveness. 

Stakeholder & Executive Communication: 

  • Support the preparation and presentation of project portfolio updates to executives and other stakeholders, ensuring alignment on key project goals and outcomes. 

  • Manage and foster relationships with internal business stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration and expectation management throughout project lifecycles. 

Risk Management & Problem Solving: 

  • Proactively identify project risks and roadblocks, providing guidance and support to Project Managers to develop and implement mitigation strategies. 

  • Provide solutions to complex project-related challenges, ensuring minimal disruption to project delivery timelines. 

  • Escalate risks and issues to senior leadership when necessary and recommend appropriate corrective actions. 

Continuous Improvement: 

  • Evaluate and refine project management processes and methodologies to drive continuous improvement in project delivery. 

  • Promote a culture of knowledge sharing, learning, and innovation within the PMO team. 

  • Conduct post-project reviews and lessons learned sessions to identify areas of improvement for future projects. 

Resource & Budget Management: 

  • Oversee the resource allocation and workload management of the project management team, ensuring optimal utilization. 

  • Collaborate with finance and PMO teams to monitor project budgets, ensuring cost control and alignment with financial objectives. 

  • Ensure projects stay within budget by monitoring expenditures and making necessary adjustments. 

  • Validate data hygiene for customer reporting  

 

Skills and Experience 

  • Extensive experience with project management frameworks (Agile, Waterfall) and managing IT infrastructure, software development, and digital transformation projects. 

  • Strong experience in managing complex project portfolios, prioritizing, and aligning projects with strategic business goals. 

  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and team-building skills. 

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to present to executives and stakeholders. 

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities. 

  • Understanding of project management tools (e.g., MS Project, AdaptiveWork). 

  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. 

  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills to help identify issues and develop solutions to keep projects on track. 

  • Teamwork and collaboration:  Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals. 

  • Strong attention to detail. 

 

Education: 

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Business Administration, or a related field. 

  • PMP (Project Management Professional), PgMP (Program Management Professional), or similar certifications preferred. 

Minimum Years of Experience: 

  • 7+ years of experience in IT project management, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or PMO Delivery Manager role. 

  • Proven track record of managing and mentoring a team of project managers to deliver large-scale IT projects. 

 

Additional details 

  • Required car travel to off-site locations, occasionally in adverse weather conditions. 

  • Long-distance or air travel as needed not to exceed 10% travel. 

  • Fully Remote
