Summary: 

The Design Strategy Manager supports The Hershey Company by collaborating with brand managers, design agencies, technical packaging and internal/external promotional partners to develop and deliver design solutions (packaging, visual identity systems, etc.). Working closely with the Director Design Strategy, the Design Strategy Manager will help develop, improve and expand Hershey's core brand equities through consistent application of world class design, while building the design capability of The Hershey Company. The Design Manager generally has 5-10 years of experience as a designer or leading design agencies/design projects. This position reports to the Director Design Strategy. 

 

The Design Strategy Manager will manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and will need to operate at both a detailed project management level and a broad strategic, conceptual level. This role requires influencing clients, financial negotiation and clear communication with all stakeholders.


Summary of major duties:
• Manage development of category leading brand identities and brand design architectures for application in packaging, shelf communication, promotion materials, traditional and digital media that extend brand strategies, which drive impact and emotional bonds with consumers.
• Manage development and publishing of brand design guidelines and logo sheets to ensure consistent application of category leading design across all elements of marketing mix.
• Manage design agency partnerships in support of design strategy and packaging development; develop design briefs, project time-lines, budgets and day-to-day agency management. Close collaboration with internal and external technical specialists to ensure clear design objectives are met with effective, efficient solutions that strive for excellence from concept to finished production.
• Develop and implement tools and techniques to support and optimize design process. Support the development and distribution of capability building tools to gain consistency, scale, and speed across the Marketing Strategy and Communication ecosystem. Support design execution, capability development and consulting with other creative teams within the larger Hershey organization.  
• Develop high level presentations to support design initiatives and raise design awareness and understanding across the organization. Support driving a common point of view around design for The Hershey Company internally and externally. Monitor design trends, processes, agencies, etc. that can inform and drive innovation across our projects.

 

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:  
Education: Bachelor's Degree Required
Experience: 5-10 years in combined design, packaging, graphic &/or digital design management and brand identity development.
Proven experience in CPG industry.
Portfolio required. 

•Expertise in brand identity system, graphic design, packaging, and POS development
• Design, packaging and printing expertise; technical mastery
• Proven experience in CPG industry and brand management practices
