Position Summary

Job Summary:

The Vice President of Business Development will play an integral role in helping to drive Light and Wonder’s market leadership growth and expanding strategic partnerships. This role involves identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, fostering relationships with key stakeholders, and leading initiatives to expand the company’s market presence. Additionally, the role will oversee the development of strategic market/product line business plans and marketing programs to support sales in designated market segments; identifies volume and strategic customers; and develops partnerships. Analyzes market data to identify trends/opportunities, develops strategic direction from market information, and creates compelling market analysis presentations. May conduct make-versus-buy analysis from a partnership/merger/acquisition perspective. The VP of Business Development works closely with the executive team to align business development strategies with the company’s overall goals and objectives.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop and implement business development strategies to drive revenue growth and market expansion.
  • Identify and evaluate new business opportunities, including partnerships, acquisitions, and new market entries.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with industry partners, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Lead negotiations and contract discussions with potential partners and clients.
  • Collaborate with the marketing, product development, and sales teams to ensure alignment and support for business development initiatives.
  • Monitor industry trends and competitor activities to inform strategic decisions.
  • Prepare and present business development reports and proposals to the executive team and other stakeholders.
  • Manage and mentor a team of business development professionals.

Key Focus Areas:

  • M&A Strategy Development – Define and execute the company's mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and strategic investment strategy.
  • Deal Sourcing & Pipeline Management – Identify, evaluate, and prioritize potential acquisition targets and partnership opportunities.
  • Financial Analysis & Valuation – Oversee financial modeling, due diligence, and valuation analysis for potential transactions.
  • Negotiation & Deal Structuring – Lead negotiations on deal terms, pricing, and contractual agreements to maximize shareholder value.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership – Collaborate with legal, finance, operations, and other teams to ensure seamless deal execution.
  • Regulatory & Compliance Oversight – Ensure all transactions comply with securities laws, antitrust regulations, and corporate governance standards.
  • Post-Merger Integration – Drive post-acquisition integration planning and execution to realize synergies and business objectives.
  • Investor & Board Communication – Present M&A opportunities, deal rationales, and strategic impact to executive leadership and the board.
  • Market & Competitive Intelligence – Analyze industry trends, competitive landscapes, and emerging opportunities to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Partnership & JV Management – Oversee strategic alliances, joint ventures, and other business development initiatives beyond M&A.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a senior level business development leader in a global matrixed organization.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in business development required and with at least 5 years in the gaming industry preferred

Education:

A Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or a related field is required. Master's degree in business administration (MBA) or a related field strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Deep understanding of the gaming market, including trends, key players, and emerging technologies
  • Proven track record of leading and developing high-performing teams
  • Strong strategic and analytical skills, with the ability to translate market insights into actionable plans
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills

The targeted pay range for this role is $200,000 - $275,000. The total compensation package for this position may also include applicable incentive compensation, such as an annual performance bonus. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, specific work geography, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
