We’re seeking a Technical Writer to join our team and help take our user-focused products to new heights. The ideal candidate will write user-friendly content that meets the audience's needs, turning insights into language for user success. Also crucial in this role is the ability to evaluate and analyze complex information and a natural desire to help people understand it.

We have a role for you if, you:

  • feel comfortable managing all aspects of the documentation process: planning, revising, maintaining, and delivery.

  • are a critical thinker who steps into your audience’s shoes to make content engaging and easy to follow. 

What you will achieve:

Within 30 days

  • Meet the team and build relationships with the team members and stakeholders responsible for delivering product documentation and content.

  • Get acquainted with Flashpoint’s culture and processes.

  • Shadow team members to understand their roles and responsibilities.

  • Learn about the product lines and APIs you will be responsible for documenting and improving.

  • Get access to key systems and development environments.

Within 60 days

  • Familiarity with Flashpoint's products and documentation systems.

  • Review key user metrics on documentation and identify any areas of opportunity.

  • You will have contributed to parts of the documentation to build confidence in the system and learn more about the products, features, and platform.

Within 90 days

  • Use your writing expertise and extraordinary attention to detail to evaluate, uphold, implement, and evangelize content standards that reflect the voice of Flashpoint.

  • Work with your peers and team to draft a quarterly plan to align with Flashpoint’s quarterly planning process.

  • Define career goals with your manager.

  • Have a clear understanding of the team’s dynamics, strengths, and challenges, and be able to communicate and advocate on behalf of your team.

  • Knowledge of the documentation systems and content we offer, how they work together and a recommendation on how to make that experience more intuitive. 

What you will get to do on our team:
  • Gain a deep understanding of products and services and translate complex information into concise, polished, engaging content.

  • Write help documentation, product micro-interactions, UX tooltips, and error messaging.

  • Work with various subject matter experts and stakeholders to author and deliver product documentation and content.

  • By being data-driven, proactively anticipate users' needs, investigate underlying issues, and create documentation and content solutions.

  • Propose content experiments and internal workflow improvements based on identified friction points in the platform to improve efficiency and quality of the user experience.

  • Review product documentation written by colleagues.

  • Maintain the library of product documentation and structure with the authoring tool

  • Work with development and support leads to identify documentation repositories, revise and edit, and determine the best data compilation and centralized storage solutions.

  • Excellent verbal communication skills and strong stakeholder management.

  • A proactive approach to identifying inefficiencies and proposing creative solutions to enhance the clarity and usability of documentation.

  • Strong research skills to gather information from subject matter experts or other sources.

  • Ability to organize content logically and manage deadlines effectively.

Base Pay Range: 68,400/yr - 77,500/yr CAD plus bonus
