The Position:

The Service Technician repairs, tests, adjusts, or installs Burford equipment at customer sites.


Responsibilities Include:

  

  • Provide installation and setup of new equipment at customer site by applying mechanical and electrical knowledge
  • Read and understand blueprints, schematics, manuals, electrical diagrams and drawings, and other specifications to determine installation procedures
  • Examine work orders and talk to equipment operators of existing equipment to determine whether technical or human error contributed to the problem
  • Inspect and operate faulty equipment to analyze and diagnose malfunctions 
  • Inspect and understand direct digital control system components 
  • Program, configure, and modify existing PLC programs utilizing knowledge of electronics and Allen Bradley software to diagnose problems 
  • Ensure that equipment functions properly as required by service or maintenance contract
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks such as inspecting, cleaning, and replacing worn parts to detect and prevent problems
  • Provide operation and maintenance training for customer
  • Provide customers and other Service Technicians with related technical support over the phone or on-site 
  • Produce trip reports for each service trip
  • Advise management regarding customer satisfaction, product performance, and suggestions for product improvements

Requirements
  • Must be able to perform basic math skills
  • Must have a mechanical aptitude, familiarity with tools and measuring tools
  • Post-secondary education in mechanical and electrical systems, or two years minimum related work experience
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability and willingness to travel up 70% annually
  • Own a valid passport or have the ability to get one
  • Knowledge and ability to utilize computers and related technology effectively
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Must have ability to read and interpret visual aids such as drawings/ blueprints, schematics, manuals, and other specifications to determine installation procedures
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)



Desired Skills: 

  • Familiarity with travel- international experience a plus
  • Good customer relations and communication skills
  • Experience in reading electrical diagrams a plus
  • Experience in wiring control panels a plus
