General Description:

The Director Biomarkers and Companion Diagnostics will support BeiGene’s clinical pipeline programs by the successful execution of deliverables in partnership across the organization; with external vendors; and with external academicians and collaboration partners. As a leader in the organization, the incumbent will be accountable to jointly develop biomarker plans to support the clinical and pre-clinical programs, including the strategy and goals, experimental validation, timelines and budget. The incumbent will also drive the evaluation of novel platforms for biomarker identification and CDx development. The incumbent will play a key role in positioning BeiGene as a leader in the field of personalized medicine. The individual is expected to have deep scientific expertise in platforms relevant to biomarker development, as demonstrated by high impact scientific publications.

Essential Functions of the job:

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage and/or develop the following areas collaboratively (internally and/or through third-party):

    Development and implementation of biomarker strategies

    Assessment of novel biomarker platforms

    Support of clinical protocol development

    KOL & collaborator engagement for biomarkers development

  • Build strong relationships with internal and external experts
  • Identify continuous process improvement opportunities
  • Develop, track, execute and report on goals and objectives
  • Support budget planning and management
  • Be accountable for compliant business practices

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • PhD in one of the Life Science areas (Molecular & Cellular Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology etc).
  • Advanced degree (eg PhD) within a clinical and/or scientific profession (or an equivalent level of professional, clinical and/or scientific education, training and experience) required
  • Minimum of 5 - 7 years of experience and success within other biotech/pharmaceutical companies, with three or more years in biomarker areas is required
  • Experience in clinical biomarkers and translational research in a pharmaceutical company or biotech industry (Oncology, Immunology or hematology) is required
  • Understanding of the operational considerations in executing biomarker strategies in clinical development is required
  • Working knowledge of CDx development and Federal guidelines and regulations is preferred
  • Professional knowledge and hands-on scientific expertise and skills in developing novel biomarker platforms in hematology is preferred
  • Working knowledge of bioinformatics approaches for the evaluation of data is required
  • Team player with demonstrated success with cross-functional and global teams is highly desired
  • Prior management of budgets and timelines is preferred

Salary Range: $170,600.00 - $230,600.00 annually

BeiGene is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. Actual compensation packages are determined by several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, certifications, relevant education or training, and specific work location. Packages may vary by location due to differences in the cost of labor. The recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for a preferred location during the hiring process.  Please note that the listed range reflects the base salary or hourly range only. Non-Commercial roles are eligible to participate in the annual bonus plan, and Commercial roles are eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan.
