Job description

We're building a new healthcare clearinghouse

In the healthcare sector, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) requires that all insurance payers exchange transactions such as claims, eligibility checks, prior authorizations, and remittances using a standardized EDI format called X12 HIPAA. A small group of legacy clearinghouses process the majority of these transactions, offering consolidated connectivity to carriers and providers.

Stedi is building the world’s only API-first clearinghouse. By offering modern API interfaces alongside traditional real-time and batch EDI processes, we enable both healthcare technology businesses and established players to exchange mission-critical transactions.

Stedi has lightning in a bottle: engineers and designers shipping products week in and week out; a lean business team supporting the company’s infrastructure; passion for automation and eliminating toil; $92 million in funding from top investors like Stripe, Addition, USV, Bloomberg Beta, First Round Capital, and more.

What we are looking for

We are looking for our first Content Engineer. Most B2B content suffers from a problem that was well-articulated by Pablo Picasso: “When art critics get together, they talk about form and structure and meaning. When artists get together, they talk about where you can buy cheap turpentine.”

Our current and prospective customers are eager to read ‘turpentine’-level content. As Content Engineer, you’ll “mine” our docs, support inquiries, pull requests, sales calls, demos, online forums, and more in order to identify highly relevant topics that customers and prospects want to read. You’ll draft technically-oriented content – blog posts, reference implementations, quickstart guides, walkthroughs, demos, case studies, whitepapers, social media posts – using the help of AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Claude, Grok).

One day, you might write a blog post about how to handle Blue Cross Blue Shield claims routing in Washington State – another, you might create a reference implementation for how to build a patient-facing eligibility check workflow that includes insurance card scanning.

By working hand in hand with go-to-market, customer operations, product, and engineering teams at Stedi, you’ll have the opportunity to not only define the role but change the growth trajectory of Stedi’s business.

What you’ll do

As a Content Engineer, your mission is simple: utilize the same best practices used in AI-assisted software development to craft and create content that positions Stedi as the go-to clearinghouse for technical audiences at digital health, revenue cycle management, and healthcare IT companies.

Specifically, you will:

  • Create a queue of relevant content that customers and prospects want to read. We have plenty of ideas – you aren’t expected to know our market.

  • Work with the rest of the team to prioritize these topics based on criteria like relevance, frequency of inquiry, SEO value, and of course, intuition.

  • Draft content using AI and manual input/editing until it is first-rate and hyper-relevant.

  • Once the content is approved, push it to various channels, including the blog, changelog, website, and social channels like email, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, and YouTube.

  • Measure the efficacy of your strategies by focusing on the outputs that matter: inbound contact us requests, self-service Sandbox signups, blog subscriptions, and qualified page views.

Who you are
  • You are, first and foremost, a builder. You love to design, build, and scale systems that work. You love using and experimenting with cutting-edge technologies to get more done with less.

  • You are technical. You have either a college degree in Computer Science or several years of hands-on experience as a software developer.

  • You are very fast. You believe that given your experience with the latest AI tools, novel, interesting  content can often be written in a (long) day or less.

  • You are the voice of the customer. You have a knack for identifying what matters to customers, and what they want to read and learn. You love storytelling and evangelizing products.

  • You are comfortable publishing content. You are comfortable pushing content out through blogs, changelogs, social channels, and directly to customers.

  • You are excited to push the limits of AI-generated content. You are not interested in churning out SEO rich content that no one wants to read; you’d rather focus on using technology and intuition to create market research and write compelling technical content that customers want to read. You understand that “engineering as marketing” is the way to appeal to our audience.

  • You are interested in healthcare. While a background in healthcare is not required for this role, you are excited about solving many of the root problems that exist in the healthcare industry in order to produce better outcomes for providers, payers, and patients.

  • You do what it takes to get the job done. You are resourceful, self-motivating, self-disciplined, and don’t wait to be told what to do. You can manage your own pipeline of work and can set your own priorities. You put in the hours.

  • You move quickly. We move quickly as an organization. This requires an ability to match our pace and not get lost by responding with urgency (both externally to payers and internally to stakeholders), communicating what you are working on, and proactively asking for help or feedback when you need it.

  • You are a “bottom feeder”. You thrive on the details. No task is too small in order to find success, generate revenue, and improve our outcomes.

At Stedi, we're looking for people who are deeply curious and aligned to our ways of working. You're encouraged to apply even if your experience doesn't perfectly match the job description.
