Associate Buyer
 

SUMMARY OF POSITION: 

The Associate Buyer plays a vital role in delivering quality on-time product to our customers using MRP systems. Plan and procure assigned material and outside service requirements to drive the lowest possible cost and inventory reduction commitments. Ensure that product is available to meet customer requirements while minimizing investments and meeting overall specifications.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Primary interface for Pierceton Campus MRO purchases.
  • Manage common stock items, for order placement and replenishment
  • Place and administer purchase orders for assigned materials and outside services.
  • Ensure compliance with negotiated contracts.
  • Maintain database and submit performance reports to suppliers as needed.
  • Provide follow-up and recovery plans for out-of-stock, past due and excess items.
  • Submit DMR (Defective Material Report) and work details for recovery with suppliers.
  • Recommend process improvements.
  • Works with Accounting to resolve invoice discrepancies.
  • Assist Sr. Buyers as needed

 

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: 

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 1-3 years experience
  • APICS or related supply chain management certification preferred
  • ISO 13485 and/or FDA compliance knowledge also preferred

 

SKILLS:

  • High attention to details
  • Team focused
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to utilize spreadsheets and word processing software to perform analysis and create reports.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities while maintaining a positive, goal-oriented attitude.
  • Understanding of manufacturing control systems as well as commonly used PC-based software such as Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel.
  • Demonstrated ERP/MRP system knowledge (Visual Mnfg, SAP, etc.)
