The Opportunity

Root is looking for an accountant with a strong background in complex accounting transactions, driving strategic initiatives, and streamlining business processes. As an Advisor, you’ll partner with Accounting and Finance Leadership, IT Engineers, and non-accounting team members to drive strategic accounting initiatives, improve departmental allocations, and implement process enhancements. In addition, you will own several complex accounting transactions, and statutory reporting requirements. The right candidate will have experience leveraging accounting acumen to effectively drive change through all levels of an organization and thrives in a fast-paced, complex, and growing accounting environment.

Salary Range: $86,000 - $107,500 (Bonus and LTI Eligible)

How You Will Make an Impact

Support management in the successful delivery of a meaningful allocation of expenses across the organization
Own several complex accounting transactions and processes
Prepare quarterly and annual statutory accounting statement
Partner with business unit leadership, including Finance and Accounting, to drive improved controls and process enhancements
Align accounting and finance with business strategy in support of the organization’s future vision
Continually develop, expand and improve month-end close and financial reporting procedures by assessing and streamlining close-related activities to drive the reduction of the close timeline
Lead various ad hoc accounting projects
Provide indirect leadership and mentoring to Senior Accountant on team

What You Will Need to Succeed

6+ years of relevant accounting and/or finance experience
GAAP & statutory insurance accounting knowledge
Excellent skills with Microsoft Office products and data analytic tools
Strong writing skills
Experience driving multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization
Approach problems with an open mind
Curious in nature
Great attention to detail
Self-starter, with strong interpersonal, teamwork, analytical and partnering skills
