Job description

Account Manager, East Coast

As a Hempel Account Manager, you will provide sales support for existing customers in the industrial and protective coatings market. Sales calls would be required on OEM, owners, buyers, finishing supervisors and engineers. Support and grow our distribution partners providing sales and technical support in all of the East Coast, as well as develop new accounts by improving our relationships with key decision makers. Have working knowledge about liquid coating application and have the ability to work with customers to improve coating properties and performance. Work with R&D to understand the product chemistry. Understand contract management and processes. We look forward to meeting you!

  • Bring a passion for building strong relationships and the ability to work effectively with customers, fostering connections with both new and existing accounts.

  • Prospect new accounts and begin to develop relationships with key decision makers.

  • Make strategic decisions on how to best allocate time with customers and prospects to maximize sales and drive profits.

  • Gain a thorough understanding of Hempel and Jones Blair products, with a focus on waterborne, epoxy/urethane technologies, and other products as required.

  • Familiarize yourself with the Hempel organization and efficiently navigate orders and other key processes within our system.

  • Possess a strong passion for attending trade shows to generate leads and enhance brand visibility as well as collaborate with the Marketing Department to coordinate trade show activities.

  • Gain a deep understanding of our websites and leverage them as powerful selling tools including utilizing CRM to manage account activity.

  • Create price quotes using CPQ, generate monthly sales activity reports in CRM, and provide weekly expense reports.

  • Collaborate closely with Sales and Marketing to coordinate trade show activities, as well as manage literature and promotional items as needed.

  • Develop engaging marketing materials to support sales calls and programs.

  • Collaborate closely with Customer Service to understand the order system and efficiently place and track orders.

  • Possess a keen understanding of which products to recommend for specific applications.

  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of distribution management and support, with a clear grasp of distribution expectations.

  • Oversee expense management and customer entertainment activities.

What you need to be successful in this role:

You have the ability to drive new account growth by setting target objectives, managing inventory based on customer needs, conducting lead analysis and follow-up, and overseeing the customer complaint process to ensure satisfaction and retention.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with at least 4 years of experience in paint or coatings application.

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.

  • Proven success in sales and relationship building.

  • Strong negotiation skills are a must.

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, Access, Excel and Power Point.

  • Possesses excellent writing, oral presentation, and time management skills.

  • Willingness to travel overnight (33-50%).
