Business Unit Overview

This position is part of Novanta’s Corporate and Shared Services global team.  Novanta’s Corporate and Shared Services teams play an important role in executing the company’s strategic mission and operations.  Included in Corporate and Shared Services are the business functions including Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, Information Technology, Legal, Compliance, Corporate Development and Corporate Marketing.  The Corporate and Shared Services teams work closely with all Novanta business units to support operating initiatives contributing to the organization’s financial success.

Job Summary

As an AWS Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and managing the core cloud infrastructure within the Novanta AWS environment. Your expertise will contribute to the successful deployment and maintenance of cloud-based solutions. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, ensuring that the foundational elements supporting cloud applications and services are robust, secure, and scalable.

Responsibilities:

Design and Deployment:

• Plan, analyze, and design enterprise-scale Microsoft cloud infrastructure solutions.
• Deploy and configure AWS resources, including Virtual Machines, Virtual Networks, and Storage Accounts.
• Implement best practices for high availability, scalability, and security.

Infrastructure Management:

• Maintain and optimize existing AWS environments.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure efficient resource utilization.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to manage on-premise and hybrid cloud systems.

Automation and DevOps:

• Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
• Streamline development and deployment processes for AWS applications.
• Manage CI/CD pipelines for AWS services.
• Knowledge and experience with Atlassian JIRA for agile deployment methodologies.

Security and Compliance:

• Implement security controls and adhere to compliance standards.
• Participate in disaster recovery planning and execution.
• Monitor and address security vulnerabilities.

Documentation and Collaboration:

• Maintain comprehensive documentation of infrastructure configurations, processes, and procedures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, architects, and network engineers.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• AWS Skills (VPC design an implementation, EC2 compute, S3 storage, RDS, IAM, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, CloudFormation).
• Proficiency in AWS services, including Virtual Machines, AWS Active Directory, and AWS Networking.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, Github).
• Strong understanding of networking concepts, security, and compliance.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

• Mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer.
• Ability to use vison to read computer screen and read printed materials
