What to know about this role

  • This is a ten (10) week, 30-hour per-week internship from Monday, June 9th, 2025 to Friday, August 15th, 2025. 
  • The hourly rate for this position is: $18.00 per hour
  • We are a fully remote organization with team members across the country. Work from the comfort of your home, a local coffee shop, or wherever in the U.S. brings you joy! Please note that you MUST live in one of the following states to be considered for this temporary role:

The impact of this role

You will help our Accounting team prepare our books for a fiscal year-end audit. Our accounting team is responsible for recording and reporting our financial flow, claims, and disbursements. This is a seasoned team with a wealth of knowledge and experience to share with someone who is looking to learn. 

You’ll get a wonderful introduction to using a general ledger at a nonprofit organization, a working knowledge of the accounts payable and accounts receivable process, and an introduction to the year-end close process and audit. 

You’ll learn the technology that our Accounting team uses: Sage Intacct, Salesforce, WooCommerce, Concur, Winvoice, and Braintree.

 

What you’ll be doing 

  • Data Entry:  Entering AMA details in supplier Forms
  • Fixed Asset Transactions: creating files for Fixed Assets and depreciation schedules
  • Accounts Receivables:  You’ll assist with processing accounts receivable invoices weekly
  • Calculate chapter dues and record Journal Entries
  • Assist with month-end close and meet deadlines according to month-end close calendar
  • Accounts Payable: Data Entry for new vendors, update names and banking information for existing vendors
  • Assist with year-end audit reconciliations and schedules

 

What you bring to the table

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. This role works with everyone, so you must be comfortable talking to people! 
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). You’ll be a working member of the team so this is key to your success.
  • Experience with Excel
  • Strong desire and willingness to learn
  • Ability to collaborate with a team and at times work independently
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

 

What you may also have

  • Experience with automated accounting systems (we use Sage Intacct)
