Job description

Obran Health is recruiting for a Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to serve our growing business. This role is central to our organization’s ability to deliver on our core mission - making our businesses serve our people. You will be joining a team of compassionate and dedicated healthcare professionals who are committed to providing the highest level of care to our patients.

Obran Health is building the largest worker-owned home-based healthcare company in the US. We know the frustrations that come when working at a traditional healthcare employer - we’ve been there. That is why we created Obran Health. Our businesses give voice, power, and a share of the profits to each of our employee members. We are recruiting for an HR professional who wants to own their work and support healthcare professionals to do the same.

Our HRBP will sit in Obran Health’s leadership team and serve our two California-based subsidiaries: Physicians Choice Home Health in Southern California and Apollo Home Healthcare in the Bay Area.

This role will be responsible for designing and implementing Obran Health’s HR services, systems and culture, so we are looking for an entrepreneurial leader with vision and drive informed by their experience leading HR at large organizations in high-regulated industries. This role will be responsible for ensuring that our Human Resources practices are compliant with the regulations of the accrediting bodies as well as applicable State and Federal regulations.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Strategic HR Leadership: Act as a trusted leader to advise business leaders on all HR matters (org design, talent, performance, employee relations, compensation, workforce planning), leveraging business acumen to align initiatives with business strategy and goals
  • Talent Acquisition & Management: Lead recruitment, onboarding, talent development, and succession planning. Develop and execute sourcing strategies to build a diverse candidate pipeline. Track and improve key recruiting and retention metrics.
  • Performance Management: Implement effective performance processes, coach managers, and address performance issues. Manage annual reviews and performance evaluations.
  • Employee Relations: Provide guidance on employee relations issues, conduct investigations, and ensure compliance.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all employment laws and regulations. Develop and communicate HR policies, maintain employee handbooks, and manage required documentation.
  • Compensation & Benefits: Manage employee benefits programs and develop compensation strategies, including benchmarking. Partner with payroll to ensure accuracy.
  • HR Data Analysis & Projects: Utilize HR data to identify trends, measure program effectiveness, and lead strategic HR projects.

Requirements

We are looking for the following experience and qualifications:

  • Experience leading HR functions in healthcare or a highly regulated industry where compliance is paramount
  • Deep understanding of HR best practices and employment laws, with experience applying them to teams of ~200-400 employees
  • Ability to build strong interpersonal relationships with stakeholders at all levels, including with clinicians or field staff in a comparable field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including leveraging data to establish and manage towards quantitative KPIs
  • Orientation to leading process improvement efforts, including overseeing change management and maintaining detailed documentation
  • Experience and appetite to serve as both the Subject Matter Expert and the do-er. You will be the thought leader developing programs, policies, and processes informed by best practices and the operator implementing them, in partnership with an HR Coordinator
  • Comfort navigating startup spaces, which requires an entrepreneurial spirit, proactive problem solving skills and ability to handle ambiguous tasks well
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with ease managing competing priorities and stakeholders
  • Commitment to building diverse teams who experience an authentic sense of belonging and ensuring our HR practices are equitable and aligned with our mission
  • Clear and effective communication and presentation skills
  • Experience utilizing HRIS systems (We use ADP and would especially appreciate expertise in this tool!)
