The Acuity Brands Internship Program is a 10–12-week experience (May – August, 40 hours/week) designed to develop high-potential candidates into marketing leaders through hands-on experiences that connect interns’ strengths and interests with the needs of the business. In addition to making an impact through your participation in key projects and transformative processes, you will have an opportunity to mentor and network with leaders throughout Acuity Brands.
It is preferred that interns only have one or two semesters left in their degree program so they can be considered for our Leadership Program immediately following the completion of the internship. Our Leadership Program is a full-time, entry-level rotational program that allows recent graduates to explore different areas within a functional area. These experiences enable young talent to grow their skill set and network within the company while figuring out what they are passionate about early in their careers.
This role works remotely (from the U.S.) and travels based on business needs.
We are excited to welcome a passionate and creative Graphic Design Intern to join our talented team at Acuity Brands. This role offers a hands-on opportunity to collaborate directly with our experienced Senior Graphic Designers and Marketing Creative Services team. As an intern, you’ll work on impactful projects, contributing to the creation of campaign and event collateral for our diverse portfolio of brands. If you have a strong design sense, attention to detail, and a desire to grow, we’d love to hear from you!
Primary Responsibilities Include
While specific projects and activities vary during your internship, you can expect to:
Graphic Design
- Collaborate on the creative process by sharing ideas, offering feedback, and executing graphic design projects.
- Design materials for digital and print advertising, social media, marketing collateral, and more.
- Assist in creating and refining design templates for recurring project needs.
- Contribute to campaign development by supporting the visual execution of concepts.
Design Support
- Partner with Senior Designers to provide creative assistance on various initiatives.
- Brainstorm alternative design solutions to enhance project outcomes.
Branding
- Support the refining of visual brand identity elements, such as logos, color schemes, typography, and overall aesthetics.
- Ensure consistent application of brand guidelines across multiple platforms.
- Collaborate on updating and maintaining design standards and guides.
Professional Growth
- Take part in learning opportunities to build expertise in graphic design tools and methodologies.
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends and technologies, bringing fresh ideas to the team.
Education (minimum education required)
Qualifications
In addition to currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field from an accredited college or university, qualified interns will have:
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).
- Basic understanding of design principles, including composition, color theory, and typography.
- Relevant internship or project experience.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Proven problem-solving capabilities
- Experience leading teams or organizations

The range for this position is $34,800.00 to $62,600.00. Placement within this range may vary, depending on the applicant’s experience and geographic location.
