IT Concepts, Inc. (ITC) is seeking an experienced Data Scientist to support our VA-ESOM- End Point Support and Operations Monitoring contract across the United States. The VA is responsible for providing comprehensive onsite and remote support to IT customers across all VA Administrations and special program offices, including direct support of over 340,000 VA employees and thousands of contractors who use government-furnished IT equipment and infrastructure. The VA provides support staff across 100+ CONUS and OCONUS locations including difficult-to-accommodate locales, such as high cost of living or under supported economic areas, where VA offices or facilities may be located and require onsite services. 

A Data Scientist provides technical support in system architecture, system design, system integration and technical management. Assists in providing technical input to the systems engineering process. Provides requirements analysis. May prepare and present systems assurance reviews. Identifies requirements and deficiencies in hardware and software products. Advises customers in product selection and use, capacity planning operations and performance management. 

Location: This position will be performed remotely within the United States and support ET working hours.

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide comprehensive application and/or data analysis support services for IT operations software, at an enterprise level, to include development and maintenance of data, analytics and data-science, as well as offering subject matter expertise for developing and enhancing as per requirements. 
  • Maintain and update design, knowledge-articles and other documents, evaluate best practices, and implement Government recommended improvements. 
  • As an integral part of the Operations Triage Group, assist in the setting up of essential administration components required for data analysis like outage times, occurrences, change requests, monitoring, etc.  All development and changes shall be documented in accordance with VA policy and the current change management framework. 
  • Report detailed key information regarding the overall health and availability of VA IT systems. 
  • Builds End-to-end solutions for highly visible Power BI dashboards to distribute critical information OTG collects to relevant stakeholders across the VA. 
  • Support VA Technical Reference Model, third-party software applications and assist VA users and other contract team members with data-related problems and projects. New releases, functionalities, and enhancements shall be implemented as part of ongoing support efforts, ensuring the dashboards & applications operate efficiently and effectively. 
  • Collaborate with team members as applicable to: 
  • conduct research on various aspects of data exploration strategies and alternatives, summarizing the findings. When necessary, identify and use different process analysis methods to assess the impact of complex issues. If alternative strategies are needed, provide a comprehensive list of all alternatives considered and a detailed summary of the cost, schedule, and performance risks and benefits of each. 
  • Identify advanced technologies, along with potential implementation plans, that offer real-time insights and predictive analysis to support informed, data-driven decisions that align with customer goals. 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, electronics engineering or other engineering or technical discipline OR 8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education. 
  • 5 years of relevant Experience 
  • Experience with creation and maintenance using GitHub, ER/D Diagrams, R/Python scripts, and ETL pipelines with SSIS from various data-sources into a relational database. 
  • Expertise in IT principles and practices, proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, and an understanding of analytics environment 
  • Adapt to changing priorities with strong analytical, problem-solving, communication skills and sharp attention to detail. 
  • Effective communication, collaboration, organization, and coordination and across multiple levels to ensure consistent and unified messaging in large organizations. 
  • Expertise in operating under high-pressure situations, flawless execution during crises, and mitigating applications / system risks. 
  • Ability to work with Teams, but self-motivated to complete projects on your own. 
  • Able to obtain and maintain Public Trust Clearance. 
  • US Citizen or Green Card holder. 

Preferred: 

  • Experience supporting a federal client. 
  • Section 508 conformance experience or knowledge 
  • Knowledge of ITIL Framework. 
  • Knowledge  or experience in ServiceNow data integration.
