Position Overview

Underwriting Associates work collaboratively with our Underwriters to ensure the accurate processing of new business applications, renewals, endorsements, cancellations, and non-renewals. Underwriting Associates are responsible for underwriting many kinds of business with a focus on Lawyers Professional Liability (LPL).

Job Duties

  • Review and assess insurance applications
  • Work collaboratively with Underwriters and cross-functionally to achieve business objectives
  • Assist Underwriters with quote, binder, and policy issuance workflows that fall within designated authority
  • Monitor various reports for consistency
  • Classify, code, rate new business, renewals and endorsements based on underwriting rules and rate manuals
  • Assist underwriting team in processing pre-bind and midterm endorsements as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 6+ months of underwriting or insurance experience, with a preference for experience in LPL underwriting
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to changing environments and work processes
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to communicate (oral and written) complex information to broad audience
  • Ability to work cross culturally on a global team
  • Prolonged periods of time sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Ability to perform at a high-level in a remote work environment
