Job description

I’m Avery, Founder & CEO of Bloom - a workplace design consultancy on a mission to change the way the world works. We’re the only firm that bridges HR, DEI, and recruitment, transforming the employee experience from end to end. Whether you’re building teams, revamping HR systems, or hosting DEI workshops, we help companies design workplaces that actually work for people. We’ve partnered with Shopify, Spotify, Knix, SmartSweets, CMHA, CanadaHelps, and more - supporting their growth by rethinking how work should work.

Right now, we’re hiring DEI Facilitators to join our collective of educators, delivering training that equips teams with real, actionable tools. If you’re passionate about work, people, and building teams through anti-oppressive practices, let’s talk.

The system of work wasn’t built for most of us to thrive - but for the first time, there’s real momentum for change. To me, the future of work isn’t a prediction; it’s a practice. And we have an opportunity right now to start practicing better ways of working - together.

What is Bloom?

At Bloom, we are on a mission to change the way the world works for the better. We don’t just offer training - we drive systemic and individual transformation by helping organizations build lasting DEI understanding and capacity. Our work goes beyond one-time sessions; we partner with companies to ensure learning translates into measurable change.

Through our capacity-building and management development training, we provide real-world strategies that help leaders and teams navigate the cultural, interpersonal, and systemic realities of today’s workplace. We don’t believe in surface-level DEI - we equip organizations with the confidence, skills, and tools to embed equity into everyday practices in a way that feels authentic and impactful.

Our commitment to sustained change includes post-training support such as follow-up sessions, access to tailored resources, and ongoing consultation to maintain momentum. By prioritizing both systemic and behavioural shifts, we help organizations move beyond check-the-box initiatives, empowering them to create workplaces where diversity, equity, and inclusion are embedded in both culture and operations.

About the Role

We’re looking for independent DEI facilitators to join our collective of educators, delivering training that’s impactful, relevant, and actually moves the needle. Whether your expertise is in restorative justice, anti-Asian hate, accessibility, or another DEI focus area, we want to work with facilitators who are passionate about driving real change in workplaces. You can lead sessions using Bloom’s original materials or bring your own content (at a negotiated rate!). Let’s cultivate organizational change - together.

The Opportunity
  • Delivering interactive DEI sessions that promote awareness, understanding, and actionable strategies for fostering more diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace experiences for all;
  • Utilizing facilitation techniques, tools, and activities to cultivate engaging and thought-provoking learning experiences;
  • Leading virtual and in-person workshops, training sessions, and seminars on a range of DEI topics, adapting content to meet the specific needs of each organization;
  • Fostering a safe and respectful environment for open dialogue and constructive conversations around sensitive anti-oppressive topics;
  • Providing guidance and coaching to participants on how to integrate anti-oppressive practices into their daily work, behaviours and interactions;
  • Staying current with industry trends, research, and best practices related to facilitation and incorporating new insights into content, materials, and approaches.

  • Did you know? Over and over again, research tells us that male-identified candidates apply to jobs when they meet part of the role’s criteria; women and other marginalized folks tend to apply only when they meet 100% of the qualifications. If you do not have all of the qualifications listed below, we encourage you to apply anyway!

    What You’ll Bring to the Table
  • You have a deep, intersectional understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the workplace and proven experience facilitating impactful training programs both virtually and in person.
  • You are excited about creating human-centred learning experiences that drive both collective and individual growth.
  • You value building trust and partnerships with interdisciplinary teams, external clients, and stakeholders.
  • You have a high emotional intelligence (EQ) and a facilitation style that is empathetic, compassionate, and resourceful—essential for navigating different personalities, viewpoints, and emotions.
  • You understand anti-oppressive strategies and decolonizing practices for organizations.
  • You have strong communication skills (visual, written, and verbal) and can present complex ideas in a clear, concise, and engaging way.
  • You are adept at using virtual collaboration tools and adapting facilitation methods to suit diverse client needs.
  • You are organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects and deadlines.
  • You can analyze feedback and refine facilitation methods to continuously improve learning experiences.

  • More About Us
  • We're a tight-knit team; however, there is space to work autonomously and independently quite a bit.
  • You'll never work on the weekend or hear from me (Avery) after 6 PM during the week (unless there is an emergency). People rarely work on Fridays here; if they do, it's on their own time - when they want, how they want.
  • You'll have autonomy and input in selecting every client we work with. No surprises. We get collective team approval before taking on any new contracts.

  • Compensation + Location + Hours
  • $40.00 - $50.00 per hour (for prep work, routine admin, creating content, and internal & client meetings) + $500 per session you facilitate. You will be joining Bloom via your corporation or as an independent contractor.
  • We are 100% remote and encourage folks to work where they can do their best work. That said, since we’re often facilitating or meeting with clients, we expect contractors in the Bloom collective to conduct their work from a private, secure, and quiet space to ensure a distraction-free environment.
  • This is a flexible, ongoing contract role based on an hourly structure. While you’ll have the freedom to manage your schedule, most of our clients operate Monday to Friday between 9 AM - 5 PM EST and our training sessions are often scheduled during this window.

  • The Interview Process
    Round 1: 30-minute video Zoom call with Agnes (Sr. HR Advisor)
    Round 2: 45-minute interview with Avery Francis (Founder and CEO, Bloom)
    Round 3: 60-minute interview. You’ll be given Bloom’s content for a mini-session and will deliver a mock facilitation to a panel of our team members. There’s no independent work or original IP required - just an opportunity to showcase your facilitation skills. As this is purely a demonstration of delivery with no new content creation, we will not be compensating candidates for this step.

    We are accepting applications for this role up to April 4, 2025. All candidates who have applied will be contacted with what’s next in the interview process by April 30, 2025. Any and all applicants that come after the communicated deadline will not be considered.

    Start Date
  • This is a contract role on a project-by-project basis. If selected to join our collective of facilitators, you’ll be engaged as a contractor for a 1-year term, with opportunities to take on facilitation work as it arises. We already have potential sessions available for contractors as early as May 2025!
  • We care deeply about offering all applicants a fair and consistent selection process. While we’d love to connect with every candidate individually, we’re unable to accommodate one-on-one conversations before the interview stage. Keeping our process structured helps us reduce bias and ensure we’re selecting facilitators based on skills, experience, and alignment with our mission.

    Bloom is committed to equity and inclusion in our hiring. If you’re a person with a disability and require accommodations during the application process, please reach out to agnes@buildwithbloom.com—we’ll work with you to meet your needs at every stage. We encourage applications from all qualified candidates, including those from historically marginalized communities.

    We know there are many great opportunities out there, so we appreciate you considering Bloom as part of your journey.

    Ready to grow? If so, apply!
