Job description

Reports to: VP – Chief Actuary      

Job Summary:                    

This is a fully remote position. The successful candidate for this position will be detail oriented, self-motivated, and efficient. Prepare and review actuarial valuations and administration for large Defined Benefit and Cash Balance plans. Additionally, the Manager, DB Administration will provide consulting to large plan Defined Benefit plan sponsors.  

Job Responsibilities (included but not limited to):

  • Prepare actuarial valuations and non-discrimination testing pursuant to ERISA guidelines and IRS procedures.
    • Perform contribution calculations to optimize tax savings.
    • Perform non-discrimination testing, such as Participation Testing (401(a)(26)), Coverage Testing (410(b)), General Testing (401(a)4)), etc.
    • Prepare earned income calculations, as necessary, for self-employed Plan Sponsors.
    • Prepare asset reconciliations, including trust accounting, as necessary.
  • Prepare necessary government filings pursuant to IRS/DOL guidelines and requirements, including but not limited to Forms 5500 and Schedule SB.
  • Provide superior client service.
  • Prepare calculation of retirement distribution benefits.
  • Prepare PBGC filings and notices.
  • Track upcoming deadlines and follow up with clients for data.
  • Familiarity with Cash Balance plans is a plus.

Qualifications required:

  • 5+ years of experience administering large Defined Benefit plans.
  • College degree.
  • Enrolled Actuary status a plus.
  • Strong computer literacy, including Excel, Word, and Adobe.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to track multiple tasks and issues, set goals and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be mature and dependable.
  • Must be able to work both independently and with direction.

Desired, but not required:

  • Working knowledge of Proval and FtWilliam.
  • Industry-related credentials (SOA or ASPPA) preferred.
