What You'll Be Doing:

As a Senior Manager on our Next Gen team, you will serve clients at a high level and lead a team through sophisticated trust and estate planning needs. This is more than basic estate planning - it’s working with a variety of stakeholders including outside attorneys, the client, and other professionals on the client’s team to determine valuation of companies, deed research and cash flow analysis, real estate, mineral interests and real estate appraisers, entity formation, addressing succession issues, and serving as a key point of contact for all the things necessary for successful client plan implementation.

Collaborate with leaders across the firm who look to your expertise in delivering accurate and high-quality planning. You’ll serve a diverse group of business owners with successful backgrounds in a variety of different industries to implement estate planning and work on entity reorganization.

What you’ll need for this position:

  • 10+ years of professional experience in trust, estate planning, probate, and fiduciary matters
  • Technical capabilities should include:
    • Experience with passthrough entities (partnerships and S corporations)
    • Experience with entity selection and reorganization that includes choice of entity, restructuring, buying, and selling of businesses, and determining ultimate ownership
    • Transaction modeling and cash flow planning
    • Understanding of tax reporting requirements
    • Ability to read and understand financial statements and tax returns
    • The desire and ability to review legal documents to ensure ideas are properly implemented
  • Demonstrated success in building and managing professional relationships, including responsibility for accurate and timely client deliverables
  • Strong communication and reading skills, cognitive abilities, interpersonal skills, self-management and organization skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, Power Point, Teams, and Excel
  • The curiosity to go beyond the textbook, asking hard questions and using technical skills to provide solutions to client problems
  • This role is not eligible for sponsorship
  • Must be located in the US

Bonus skills and experience that we value:

  • Juris Doctorate degree with experience in M&A and drafting and reviewing contracts
  • Experience with compliance returns for estates and trusts (Forms 1041, 709, and 706)
  • General to complex partnership issues including: 754 elections, disguised sales, mergers/divisions, special allocations, debt, and basis issues
  • General to complex S corporation issues including ownership changes, ineligible shareholders, trust ownership issues, etc.
  • Corporate and noncorporate reorganizations, mergers, and acquisitions
  • Asset sales and transfers
  • Transition planning for closely held businesses

Compensation: In some states and municipalities, Pinion is required by law to include a reasonable estimate for range of compensation. When making compensation decisions, Pinion takes into account a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, skills, certifications/licenses, and geographic location. The wide range for this role reasonably accounts for these factors. Specific compensation decisions are made based on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $125,000 to $200,000.

Remote Eligibility: This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at a Pinion office or attendance at offsites, as requested/required by the firm and/or your supervisor.
