What You'll Do
At Avalara, you will work on diverse projects that make tax compliance less taxing and more efficient for businesses around the globe. You could enhance our primary tax computation engine, building connectors integrate it with e-commerce systems, developing AI models to automate the creation of tax rules or engineering our multi-cloud core SAAS platform. You will report to Senior Engineering Manager
What Your Responsibilities Will Be
As a Software Engineer, you will design, code, and increase different parts (microservices) of our compliance cloud. It will be up to you to convert product vision and requirements into the finished product.
This is a
fully remote position, allowing you to contribute to important projects while working from anywhere. You'll help transform product vision and requirements into high-quality, reliable products, ensuring a seamless user experience.
This will be an individual contributor role.
What You'll Need to be Successful
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in software design.
- Proficiency in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP): hands-on experience with C#, Java, or JavaScript, with an understanding of OOP principles, design patterns, and best practices.
- Approach problems from multiple perspectives, evaluate different solutions by weighing pros and cons, troubleshoot critical production issues to minimize downtime.
- API Development & Data Interchange: Solid experience with developing, and consuming RESTful APIs, working with data interchange formats such as JSON and XML, and ensuring seamless system integration.
- Cloud & DevOps Expertise: Practical experience with AWS services (such as EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, and IAM) and managing CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or AWS Code Pipeline to ensure efficient and automated software deployment.
- Database Management: Hands-on experience with relational databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle, including query optimization, database design, indexing strategies, and ensuring data integrity and performance.
