Are you passionate about sustainability and integrity in supply chains? Do you want to help businesses implement traceability systems and meet environmental standards while addressing key challenges? If so, our Global Traceability Lead role could be the perfect fit for you.

What can you expect:

As the Global Traceability Lead, you will be our global cross-program and cross-sector expert within Preferred by Nature for all traceability-related topics. Your role will involve collaborating with specialists across divisions and working with external partners such as companies, certification scheme owners, and technology providers to foster traceable, sustainable value chains.

You’ll lead the development of traceability strategies and ensure that systems support sustainable practices and prevent fraud. This role emphasizes integrity in supply chains by addressing fraud risks, understanding emerging technologies relevant to traceability, and capacity building. Your responsibilities will include assessing CoC models, working with emerging technologies like stable isotope testing, and providing expertise on data governance within supply chains, as it applies to supply chains and sustainability.

Working with us is never routine so the first year you can expect the following areas to be central to your work.

  • Lead the implementation of Preferred by Nature’s Traceability Strategy and associated action plans.
  • Act as the focal point for integrity in supply chains, staying informed on fraud risks such as mislabeling and false claims, and advising on mitigation strategies
  • Provide expertise on CoC systems, traceability tools and data governance topics, addressing fraud risks and regulatory compliance.
  • Support clients with tailored guidance traceability, data integrity and CoC- related topics, including regulatory compliance and best practices.
  • Lead the assessment of CoC system models and traceability technologies, offering insights into emerging technologies to reduce fraud risks, including stable isotope and minor component testing.
  • Oversee CoC systems in our Certification Program, ensuring alignment with best practice standards and regulatory frameworks.
  • Engage in capacity-building activities, guiding internal teams and clients on risk assessment, fraud mitigation, and traceability best practices.

Your first year with us

Within three months, you will:

  • Get familiar with Preferred by Nature’s traceability strategy, CoC and traceability systems, tools, and key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Engage with internal teams and external partners to understand ongoing traceability projects, regulatory frameworks, and emerging fraud risks.
  • Develop a detailed workplan with goals, outputs, and activities aligned with the strategy and stakeholder insights, while supporting ongoing projects on traceability models, fraud mitigation strategies, and sustainability data governance.

Within six months, you will:

  • Provide expert guidance on CoC systems, traceability tools, supply chain integrity, fraud risk, and mislabeling, collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Support clients with tailored guidance on traceability, data topics, regulatory compliance, and best practices while leading Preferred by Nature’s CoC standard and certification system.
  • Lead discussions on emerging technologies (e.g. laboratory testing, minor component analysis) and their applications for fraud prevention, develop training materials, and conduct workshops/training to build internal and external capacity on supply chain risk, data integrity, and traceability best practices.

Within one year, you will:

  • Drive the implementation of Preferred by Nature’s Traceability Strategy, ensuring alignment with certification standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Act as the key representative for Preferred by Nature in industry forums, certification schemes, and discussions related to CoC integrity and sustainability data, whether resulting from voluntary or regulatory drivers.
  • Assess and compare CoC and traceability system models, identifying opportunities for innovation in relation to traceability, sustainability data, fraud prevention, and enhanced supply chain transparency.

Important that you have:

  • Minimum bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, for example geography, forestry, biology, environmental science, or a related technical field.
  • At least 4 years’ relevant work experience, preferably from an NGO, sustainability consultancy, sustainability in the corporate sector, forestry or supply chain management.
  • Proven experience in supply chain auditing. Familiarity with risk assessments and fraud mitigation.
  • Strong knowledge of CoC systems and mechanisms used in certification schemes. Practical experience with CoC models, volume reconciliation processes, technologies and traceability tools.
  • Analytical skills to assess and compare CoC models and identify systemic risks.
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies such as stable isotope and minor component testing.
  • Proficient in communication, including the ability to train stakeholders and engage with external partners.
  • Fluency in English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.

It would also be great, but not necessary, if you:

  • Have additional knowledge or experience in one or more of the following areas: sustainability, certification, regulatory compliance;
  • Leadership and project management skills are a plus
  • Have worked with a wide range of stakeholders such as NGOs, governments, and private sectors.
