Position at Berkeley Research Group, LLC

Position Summary:
The Systems Administrator plays a critical role in managing and supporting BRG’s global hybrid IT infrastructure, integrating Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, and on-premises Windows environments. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated problem solver with strong technical and customer service skills, responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of our cloud and on-premises systems.
 
Key Responsibilities:
1. Microsoft Cloud & On-Premises Infrastructure Management:
  • Administer and support Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, and Power Automate.
  • Manage Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), including identity governance, role-based access control (RBAC), and conditional access policies.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022) across global data centers.
  • Support hybrid identity solutions integrating Azure AD and on-premises Active Directory.
  • Oversee Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), Intune, and Autopilot for device provisioning and management.
  • Monitor system performance using Azure Monitor, Microsoft System Center, and third-party tools.
2. Security, Compliance & Disaster Recovery:
  • Implement and enforce Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, MFA, and zero-trust security principles.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR, and other relevant security frameworks.
  • Administer Microsoft Purview Compliance Center to manage security, retention, and data governance policies.
  • Maintain and optimize backup solutions such as Azure Backup and Veeam to support disaster recovery initiatives.
  • Manage PKI and certificate services for internal and external-facing applications.
3. End-User & Desktop Support (Windows & Mac):
  • Support a global workforce by managing Windows 10/11 and macOS devices using Microsoft Intune.
  • Assist users with troubleshooting and optimizing Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Maintain desktop imaging solutions, ensuring up-to-date security patches and system configurations.
  • Provide expert-level support for collaboration tools, including Microsoft Teams and video conferencing platforms.
4. Network & Infrastructure Services:
  • Configure and manage DNS, DHCP, Group Policy (GPO), and VPN services.
  • Assist in hybrid networking configurations, including ExpressRoute, Azure Virtual Network, and site-to-site VPN.
  • Work with IT teams to ensure high availability, scalability, and redundancy of critical services.
5. IT Operations & Project Management:
  • Participate in and lead IT infrastructure projects, such as cloud migrations, system upgrades, and security enhancements.
  • Work collaboratively with IT Operations, Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, and Application teams to ensure business continuity.
  • Document configurations, standard operating procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Provide training and mentorship to Tier 1 and Tier 2 support teams.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required:
  • 3-5 years of IT experience in a Microsoft cloud and on-premises environment.
  • Strong expertise in Windows Server, Active Directory, Azure AD, and Microsoft 365 administration.
  • Experience with Intune, SCCM (MECM), and Autopilot for endpoint management.
  • Familiarity with PowerShell scripting for automation and system management.
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and firewall configurations.
  • Experience working with backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
Preferred:
  • Azure Administrator (AZ-104) or Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Conditional Access, and Sentinel.
  • Experience with VMware or Hyper-V virtualization platforms.
  • Knowledge of hybrid cloud integrations and automation tools.
Work Environment & Expectations:
  • 75% on-site presence in one of the following locations: Boston, Chicago, Emeryville, Los Angeles, New York, or Washington, DC.
  • Up to 25% remote work on a case-by-case basis.
  • IT personnel must support BRG locations globally, including remote personnel and contractors.
  • Occasional travel for up to 5+ business days may be required.
  • On-call and off-hours duties are expected as part of this role.
  • Work hours fall within 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM local time (shift-based).
