Job description

Join our Global Procurement team 

As our new Procurement Sustainability Specialist, you will be responsible for driving the execution of Hempel’s Procurement Sustainability Program, ensuring compliance with sustainability regulations and embedding responsible procurement practices across our value chain. You will work closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders to assess sustainability risks, conduct due diligence, and enhance ESG performance in procurement. 

 

What will you do? 

  • Lead supplier sustainability due diligence – Conduct supplier assessments, ensuring suppliers meet ESG and sustainability standards. 

  • Assess procurement sustainability risks – Evaluate upstream value chain risks, ensuring compliance with global due diligence frameworks and regulations. 

  • Engage suppliers on sustainability – Facilitate supplier improvement sessions, driving best practices in responsible sourcing and ESG compliance. 

  • Develop reporting & insights –Track ESG data, develop and deliver insights on ESG to the business. 

  • Ensure compliance & continuous improvement – Stay ahead of sustainability legislation (e.g., CSRD, CSDDD), ensuring procurement remains aligned with upcoming ESG and regulatory requirements. 

  • Strengthen internal capabilities – Work with procurement colleagues to build sustainability knowledge and integrate ESG principles into procurement processes. 

  • Drive innovation & projects – Support and contribute to initiatives such as: 

  • Digitalization of procurement sustainability 

  • ESG risk assessments in complex supply chains 

  • Embedding sustainability into procurement decision-making 

 

What makes you the right fit? 

  • A degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Sustainability, Business, or a related field. 

  • Strong experience in supplier due diligence and procurement sustainability. 

  • Deep knowledge of ESG topics, upstream value chains, and responsible sourcing. 

  • Experience with EcoVadis, supplier screening tools, and sustainability regulations (e.g., CSRD, CSDDD, EUDR) is a strong advantage. 

  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess data and translate insights into action. 

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence internal and external stakeholders. 

  • A collaborative and proactive mindset, eager to drive change and make an impact. 

  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
